Thanks Mary, when did Marty post? I would like to read it. My BP has always been good 118/68 but it's my heart rate thats not stable. I watch my salt and excercise 3 times a week. Plus active during the day. I will give my cardio a call on Monday. Want to see how the weekend goes.
Thanks for the input.:)

Crystal,
I looked for Marty's post, but I couldn't track it down.
I've sent him a pm and asked if he would visit this thread, so hopefully he will.

It took a long time for my heartrate to come down post surgery, and although I did have bouts of 100+, I never got over 105. I think I'd give the cardio a call and ask what's up.

It took consistent exercise to finally bring my heart rate down. At the GP's today, it was 76, still not great, and my BP was 110/60, great!;) I did try medication, but the side effects weren't worth it. I decided to try the exercise after reading Marty's post where he said that worked for him.

I don't think there's a quick solution to lowering it, but this far out of surgery I would expect some answers from the cardiologist.

Sorry, can't remember where or when I posted about postop heart rate. I am over 10 years post-op now and have had a normal heart rate for years. I do remember buckling on one of those heart rate monitors. I worked on the treadmill every day taking my heart rate up and then checking how long it took to come down. You should ask your cardiologist for a safe treadmill program. I agree - for me it worked.

I found it ! Feb 8 2006

My resting heart rate post op was about 110. My cardiologist stopped all meds except warfarin. He Rx treadmill four times a week- 45 minutes. He said heart rate should be over 120 bpm for at least 20' as monitored with a Polar Pacer. After a few weeks resting heart rate was down in the 60's. I can get up to 120 only with difficulty. I still do 45' at 4.3 mph.

This regime worked for me. check with your doctor to see if it is safe for you.

Thanks Marty,
You post was very helpful. I have moved up my exercise 4 times a week now. That does help health wise. Better eating habits too. Friday when I went to exercise my rest HR was 100 so it is coming down. They did put me on the monitor and said everything looked good.
I see the dr Oct 21st and will keep that unless HR gets bad again.
Thanks again for all who responed.
Crystal
