Well i've heard from my family Doctor who needs to
see me at 1pm today regarding a letter faxed to him
from a surgeon in Edmonton regarding some tests to
be performed here before i leave for Edmonton
Things are movin and i will update my info after i see my Doc.:)
The cath is ready to take place with a cardiologist i will see,but
now the surgeon has made requisition of tests here to bring with
me back to edmonton....Got a feeling i willnot just be going for
an appt. there and my cath, they are likely gonna get it all done.:)
(FINALLY)

Deb:

Sounds like the doctors are wanting to proceed, but the timing is SOP.

My husband had to bring tapes & records of all tests (echoes, TEE, heart cath, etc.) when he had consults with surgeons last spring. He had surgery 4-6 weeks after seeing Dr. Ryan.

Go with our very best wishes for success. Please let us know what is doing as soon as you are able.

Godspeed......

Getting closer HOORAY to OVER With

Getting closer HOORAY to OVER With

So they have everything from here blood, echos all stuff my Family
Doc has faxed them in past weeks. They have all my files from first
aortic surgery and cath 16 years ago, they have all paper work copies
pretaining to the anticoagulant difficulties upon cyst removal in past.
All copies of my endocaditis from 2006.

Now they are going to evaluate everything for my cardiac surgery.
I have a pulmanary test here on Monday at 10:00 am that test
result will be faxed to them.

Now the assessment and plan is as follows:
Theyve determined i am high risk surgery and need to evaluate
with family history that my coronary arteries are clear as they were
16 years ago ,that was my last cath. A tranessophagel echo is in
the plan also, the fasting lipids have already been done here last 2
weeks and that was sent fax some time ago by my Dr.here.

So because i'm from a far distance away they want to arrange for
all the investigations and clinic visits to be done at once.

Because of the complexity of my situation with anticoagulation
for both my mechanical valve, and my atrial fibrillation and now my
mitral stenosis.
I need to be worked up with appropriate bridging by iv:eek:heperin
the :eek:is oh my veins are bad and hurt. They say i am high risk
and they feel that doing it with enoxaparin wouldnot be ideal for me.
Therefore guys i need to be admitted for these tests and they are
working on the arrangements. They also in their investagations want
to make certain that a double valve replacement isnot needed.
all they have are 2 echos which definately shows a need for mitral
change from native to mechanical and they need to get a closer look
at the aortic mechanical to determine if i will need 2 valves done at
this time or one, this definately sounds wonderful to my ears,i'd hate
to replace one, then only down the road do it again. I say get it all
done if needs to be done. They will confirm my history, and physical
as well as medications when i am able to meet with these Drs which
i'm betting will be real quick and this is why i won,t have a surgery
date cus they already have to admit me for the tests.:):)

Well any feedback any suggestions,im not scared, not nervous
surely the tests i know what im up against the surgery not knowing
fully what has to be done yet, till tests complete...so far maybe
its good i don,t have a date till i get there and don't have all the
answers till i'm there.....But i do feel a tear wanting to roll now
but thats okay:) i'm still smiling even though i have to be put in early
the heparin drip and probally won't get out till all is said and done.
i'm sure they will book me quick after the test monday here for
pulmanary.......But well let you all know when im leaving.
Now i do have 2 tears but still smiling:)

it's the actual call on the phone.....the wait.
and it will come fast and i will be on my way.
keep you all posted somehow, either Kathy or dh
someone will keep you informed and i'll post here as
soon as im leaving. They said as soon as the test is

Deb, once that ball gets rolling you need to be ready for anything....get ready.

I had seen my surgeon in Montreal in April (2005)....he said, "no rush".
After a difficult summer I saw him again in September (2005). He said, "let's do it in 2 weeks".
The very next day was my Cath, and 10 days later I got called in early for OHS.
Zim, zam, zoom, done!

The balls rolling

The balls rolling

Just recieved a phone call from university of edmonton
for an actual confirmation date on tuesday, for a bed.
they wanted to tell me that tuesday they will phone me
with a date for a bed to do my briding on heperin along
with tests needed and that they arenot able to confirm
my date on bed till tuesday, that it will likely be short notice
and apologised for this.So yes Bina the ball is rolling.

Fantastic! I think your wait is about over!:)

I pray this is the case too Deb & that you won't have to be in the position that I am now. If there's a need to replace both, then I hope to God they'll do it all together too; better for you in the long run.

My thoughts & prayers are with you girl; I will be anxiously awaiting more news when you get to Edmonton. Stay strong & stay focused & know we're all pulling for you! :):):)
