Hi there everyone. Sorry I haven`t written for a while but there is a lot happening at the moment. That`s me just out of hospital because of an infection. I had to spend 2 weeks taking IV antibiotics and I was very weak because everything in my blood was messed up as a result of the 3 cicles of chemo I had to do. I also had a persistant temperature for a while that kept coming back and the doctors just couldn`t figure out where it was coming from. They did an echo and although I have severe mitral stenosis, the valve remains the same as the echo back in April showed. They suspected endocarditis because of my heart history but thought the chances were very slim, but to be on the safe side they`ve given me antibiotics that would also treat it just in case. Anyway, I`m home and feeling well again and the care I had was absolutely fantastic. The chest X-ray showed that the tumour has reduced even more so they won`t put me through a last chemo and will move straight to radiotherapy within the next couple of weeks instead. Then, once this has been taken care of, I`ll go back to the cardio and take things from there. So, looking back to when this all started, I can say that I`ve come a long way and have achieved quite a lot. I could hardly breathe and had to sleep sitting up, as well as gasping for air after every couple of words.
I`ll keep you posted on my progress.

I'm so sorry to read of your infection problems, but delighted to read that the chemo is shrinking the tumor. You remain in my prayers.

Debora, you are in my prayers as well. I'm praying for better days ahead. I'm sorry about the infection but loved reading that you are felling "well". Love those words!

A pesistant chesty cough

A pesistant chesty cough

So nice to see so many posts of encouragement. I got a letter through the post this morning with an appointment for me to goa nd see the oncologist this Wednesday and I`ve also got a CT scan of my chest and abdomen scheduled for the 16th of this month. The only thing annoying me is this wee ticklyvcough I`ve had for nearly 2 weeks now and it`s driving me up the wall. It`s totally unproductive, except when I wake up in the morning, and even so, I just clear my chest a little and that`sit. It`s a chesty cough and doesn`t affect my throat at all. Any guesses of what might be causing it? The doctors found nothing that could explain the reason and have put down to it being the dry air in the hospital as they don`t allow windows to be opened there since people have tried to kill themselves in the past.
Anyway, hope to start the radiotherapy soon.
Have a great weekend
Debora

Deborah, it sounds like you are getting excellent care in your new homeland. It's wonderful that the tumor is shrinking. Maybe pretty soon you can get back your real life and on to other things - the heart matter, of course. Wishing you all the best and prayers for you and your loved ones.

Debora ~ It sounds like encouraging news that the tumor is shrinking. I hope that you continue to get better with each passing day. My best wishes and prayers are with you. Take care, Dawn-Marie
