Please let us know if any of you receive a PM from known or unknown persons with links or ads to other sites. This is happening at another forum I frequent that is also using vBulletin.


An apparent exploit of the forums is allowing a massive amount of spam PM's. Do not open any links on any PM's, or even PM's, if they are not from people that you know, even if you know them as if their user & password is the same, their account has probably been hijacked.... Some are porn, some have virus and trojans!

We are working it on it and hope to have it in control soon.

Edit!!!! If your User name and Password are the same, CHANGE IT NOW!!!! That is the exploit...

It has nothing to do with your email. That cannot be accessed. This thing looks at user names with the same for passwords. It logs in as the user and spams away since the username and password are the same.

This is also why we are refusing to allow web based emails for registration too.

Yeah it seems like every time VB comes up with a fix for something a new exploit pops up...cat and mouse I guess.

I don't miss my old forum ownership days... Most people really don't understand how tough it can be to keep order and peace in cyberland.

Isn't that the truth! People only see what happens in the forums, but have no idea what were doing behind the scenes. It's getting worse all the time.
