My reply was meant as a joke. Since I didn't know most of the people in the article, it went over my head; however, I could tell that it was meant as a sarcastic slam on Americans. I find it funny that they write entire articles making fun of us! I guess they don't have any funny people in their own country! :p I don't recall ever reading anything about English people in our newspaper, other than maybe famous ones like Prince Charles (really big ears), David Beckham (now he's HOT!), and of course the magnificent (lots of sarcasm there) Spice Girls!

However, after reading many of BonzoDog's posts, I know that he has a very sarcastic sense of humor. When I understand what he is talking about, I find him quite funny! He even pre-warned us on this one. Yes, let's lighten up!
 
Before my pm box starts filling up with complaints, I'm going to ask that Bonzo please post no more posts with anti american sentiments or cut downs. It's going to create problems that I just don't need and if I have problems, your going to have problems. Universal jokes are fine, but if they can be construed to be inciting or baiting, well, it won't be purty.

I appreciate your compliance in this matter.

And, Lisa, I agree: As I've told Bonzo, I enjoy his posts. My sense of humor (such as it is) runs to the sarcastic too. Maybe it seemed that I was mad at him, but I'm not. Just trying to make a few points in my own clumsy, sledgehammer way.

I will of course have to obey the whipcrack of Ross. :( ............... However what is classed as anti American, how super sensitive are some people? And sorry I can't compute 'cut down' :confused:, must be a cultural deficiency on my part.

There are many virulent anti american sentiments in the media and on the net over here. I would not post them because i don't agree with them. I really did think the sportsman blog was an amusing, zany, wry, satirical skit. It was posted in a joshing among friends spirit. Anticipating possible frostiness in some quarters, I even asked To any easily offended patriots, please treat this as a light hearted satire for amusement.. I hoped Americans had the capacity to laugh at themselves.

EDit Ps I'm wondering if I instead of Ross,had posted the link skiting the upcoming US elections, how well it would have been taken?

I'm trying to head off a potential problem before it happens. Why Americans are cracked upon and cut down so much by your fellow countrymen is beyond me. You don't see that kind of stuff in the U.S., so if we seem appalled and upset by these posts, that's the reason why. I'm not trying to stop fun posts, just those that incessantly belittle americans. I'm sure if we did have similiar things here and we posted those are your sites, you'd be equally offended.

Actually I should never have posted the jibjab cartoon because it is political and anything political or religious has the potential of turning into a nuclear confrontation on forums. Now if we can all act like adults and respond as such, that's one thing, but I have yet to see it happen where it doesn't turn mean and in a hurry. The upcoming elections...I think it's fairly safe to say that none of us are happy with our choices, but they are the choices.

This thing you posted is very mild in comparison to some. I'm not so much jumping up and down about it, but what happens in the long run. Hope you understand what I mean.

Careful my friend....just the type of comment / assumption that some could take offense and start another brouhaha.....as for me, I am offended by nothing....or is it everything.....I can't recall......or maybe I'm just offensive.:p
