Hi, everyone! It's PonyGirlMom. I had my surgery Monday and I'm posting on Friday, July 4. I'm supposed to go home today, although they want to give me some blood first and something about it is hard to get, so if I don't get the blood until the afternoon I'll spend another night here.

They took out my tubes on Wednesday and the "just in case you need a pacemaker" wires yesterday.

They tried to repair my valve, but it was still leaking, so I got the moo-cow valve after all.

Yesterday I didn't feel ready to go home today, but today all I can think about is, "I hope they have the blood on hand so I can go home!"

Hope everyone is having a great 4th!

Hooray!

Hooray!

Glad to hear you are doing well. I know how you feel about wanting to go home, I just got home this past Saturday. I am so glad all went well for you and hope you have a smooth recovery!

Welcome back! I can attest to the fact that you don't want to be running around low on blood. Not only would you be feeling funny, but you tire in no time.

Congratulations

Congratulations

to both you and Jody on your homecomings. Hope you both will continue to post on how it goes post-op. I'm scheduled for July 21 and it's encouraging to hear that both of you were home in 5-6 days. More important, you both seem to feel you were ready to go home at that time. I wish both of you the best and smooth sailing for your recovery, and look forward to your updates.

Joe had blood that was very difficult to match too. It was a pain. Sometimes he had to wait for a day or so before they could get any. Had to order it from the Regional Blood Bank. One time, they drove it all night by taxi because he really, really needed it.

I hope they can find your match asap.

Great!! I have been looking for your post op post.
The same happened with me - my doc tried and couldnt repair my valve
since it was still leaking , so he replaced it instead.
Im so glad you are recovering fast . Just remember to take it easy and listen when they say not to lift much; I tried to button a pair of tight jeans , and
felt like I split myself in half:eek:They were REALLY tight:eek:
It sounds like you are doing well and if you need to chat we are all here:)
Best always from Dina (just one of the heifers in the herd)

Great to hear that you are home -- no place like it, even if it doesn't have movies on demand. :D Appears you are doing well, to be on the computer so soon. Remember to use your spirometer, get your short walks in, and get plenty of rest.

Cheers,

Welcome home - be sure and follow orders and don't get impatient.

Those beds are great aren't they?

Welcome home!

Welcome home!

Great to see you are home and recovering well. be careful, this website becomes addicting! :) In no time you will be back to your good ol self!
My first OHS was an attempt at a repair of my BAV, and it too ended up being a tissue valve! 11 years later and here I am ticking with my new mechanical valve!
Best of luck as you recover- trust me, it gets better every day!
Ingrid
