Well, I am so happy to be on this side of the mountain! I really do feel wonderful, and its only been 11 days since my surgery. I am sleeping in my bed, on my side, walking quite a bit, (but not overduing it), showering myself, brushing and blowdrying my hair,...all that stuff I was worried about not being able to do. The first few days home I was pretty sore, mainly in the neck and back, but that has all seemed to get better each day. I am standing straight up now,.. dressing myself etc. GOODNESS! it feels great! And the best part is that all the worry is gone. I want everyone to know that I couldnt have gotten through all of this without all of you. I will write more later, and more details about my hospital stay and all that, but its pretty much like everyone said,..all my worst fears didnt turn out to be half as bad as I imagined. Talk more soon! Billie Jo

Sounds like everything went great! I am just a few days behind you, and starting to feel better everyday. I agree, the ability to shower and get dressed is fabulous! Keep up the good work!

Great to see you are doing so well! Good news! I'm not sure about blow drying your hair. My surgeon told me not to. My husband had to do it. He got pretty good at it to.;) Just a caution. Keep it up and REST!

Billie Jo, it is so good to hear all is going well. Remember there may be some days that are not as good as others but overall you should expect forward progress. Keep in touch and welcome to this side of the mountain.

Other things that sometimes occur about now are:
1. Some night sweats....possibly from our bodies getting rid of all the anesthesia and other medications used during surgery and afterwards.

2. Vivid dreams.
3. Strange sleep patterns.

These are just a few of the things that probably were not mentioned in your discharge papers but you may or may not encounter them. Keep up the good work!
