Yep, I'm going to be a great-aunt.
And I'm going to be a great-aunt.

My niece in St. Louis came home for Mother's Day, and we had a cook-out at my parents' home Saturday afternoon. My sister got to announce that she is going to be a grandmother and it's going to be TWINS!
My dad was a little stunned. After all, 2008 started with one great-grandchild, Lauren. His 2nd great-grand, Lane, is due in about 3-4 weeks, and 2008 will end with 4 great-grands. The twins are due about Nov. 26.

Needless to say, everyone's thrilled for my niece -- and my sister, too. Cathy has plenty of experience with getting ready for babies. She works for a JoAnn's store and has been creating layettes, bumper pads, curtains, etc., etc., for a myrid of babies in our family and those of her daughter's friends and in-laws.
Now she gets to do it twice for the same event!

Congratulations to all, Marsha.

Our daughter is pregnant and everyone has been teasing her saying it will probably be twins. She's not thrilled with the idea, but I think it might be fun!

Congratulations to the family Marsha!

My sister had twins at Christmas. Double the fun and double the work! It's very stressful on the parents. Our family helped out for the first 4 months. our mother even lived in.

Sounds like you have a supportive family. As great aunt....sure you will bringing a few meals over when you visit. No time to cook or eat really. Sis has lost 60 lbs. She only gained 15 during the entire pregnancy!

Have fun. Truly a blessing.

It's a bumper crop for your family this year! Congratulations.

My niece told everyone yesterday that she was expecting! So now I'm going to be a great aunt for the first time. For some reason that makes me feel older than being called grandma!

My niece is extremely organized, meticulous. She managed to get 2 college degrees the same day, both with honors. We think she can pull off having twins. Her father-in-law (a widower) loves his grandkids & to baby-sit, and he lives fairly close.

BTW, we think it was in the water  at the house she & her husband moved out of April 15. Seems that quite a few former owners have conceived twins while living there. The new owner is a single woman in her 30s or 40s.

A cousin came from Houston for the weekend with her 22-year-old mentally challenged son. We had difficulty explaining what twins are. Finally, it sank in. Wish I had had a camera when the lightbulb came on! :)

Holly plans to join a mothers of twins club. She networks very well, and some of her doctors have twins.

Must be spring! :) Lots of little bunnies everywhere!!!:)

My younger brother just told me this weekend that he was going to be a grandfather for the first time, so I'm going to be a great-aunt again!!!:)

I'm already on the list for baby-sitting duty!!! :)

Ahhh...CONGRATULATIONS, Marsha! That's awesome news!

He he ... can't wait for my sister to have her kid ... she is due in early November ;).

Speaking from recent experience. She will need lots of help.

My sister is high achiever, owns a business.... and, like your niece very meticulous. Something has to give! It's not humanly possible to do all. Very exciting...but not easy task. I have spent my spare time assisting. There is no time for a break. Someone is always in need:) Though, it is getting more manageable these days.;) Twin club is great. We enrolled her, nice. There was no time for her to enroll herself, or even arrange a meeting with the church for the christening. Which I did for her as well;)

I Feel REALLY old!

I Feel REALLY old!

Congratulations, and Congratulations!!:D
My niece told everyone yesterday that she was expecting! So now I'm going to be a great aunt for the first time. For some reason that makes me feel older than being called grandma!

I got to meet my great, great niece on Sunday! And I'm not even 50 yet, (soon, but not yet)! My older sister, Laurie gave birth to a baby at age 16, whom she gave up for adoption without ever laying eyes on her. Exactly 30 years later, on Missy's 30th birthday, my sister got to meet her! When we met Missy, about 7 years ago, she had 3 children...3 more grandkids for my sis that she didn't know about. Now, Missy's oldest son is married, (at age 18), and he and his wife had little baby Maya in January.

It's pretty weird to think I'm a great-great Aunt, but my sister is a great-grandmother? My mother is a great-great-grandmother??? Wow!
