This is related to my other thread, but thought I'd start a new one since the other one died out.

I recently gained 10 pounds, and fairly quickly, too--within 2 weeks. Wonder if that has had anything to do with the lightheadedness? Have any of you experienced such a thing?

Meanwhile, back to Weight Watchers for me to shed that extra junk in my trunk! Can't wait for my BFGC to get on my case about my recent weight gain! I see him Friday, by the way, just to discuss last night's  fun:rolleyes: trip to the ER.

With that kind of sudden weight gain in two weeks time, I would be calling the cardiologist, if it were my husband.

That would be a signal of fluid retention. It doesn't necessarily mean that it IS fluid retention, but that is a typical sign.

And your funny feeling might be related. Don't know.

I think you should call the cardiologist and at least run this by him, mentioning the sudden weight gain.

Here are the guidelines that Joe's cardiologist had for calling when weight gains happened. 2 pounds overnight or 5 pounds over a three day period of time.

Instead of thinking it is just plain old fat, please call the card. and ask.

Thanks for the good advice, Nancy!

My lungs are clear and I'm not swollen anywhere, but the fat seems to be in my rear. (That rhymes!) :p

I have been eating poorly lately, but not any worse than I have been in recent months. One of my friends thinks it's stress weight...

But, I didn't think of fluid retention. Hmmm...

You do not want to look like me. I look like the Michellin Man. Check into it silly girl.

Debster:

If the stress is acute, you will eat poorly (i.e., less). With chronic stress, you're apt to eat more. (I believe I read this is "You On A Diet: The Owner's Manual for Waist Management," by Michael F. Roizen and Mehmet C. Oz. Great book; I bought it at Costco for about $14, I think)
Has your activity/exercise level dropped? That could partly explain the increase in weight. When my valve started going, I unconsciously adapted by being less active. And I sure put on the weight.
The lightheadedness could certainly be related to the weight gain. Ten pounds is a lot to put on in 2 weeks' time.

Good luck with finding an answer -- and getting the pounds back off. Doesn't sound like regular weight gain to me.

Debster,

You've gotten some great advice here. I second it. Please do it it checked out, if you haven't already. There are too many things going on to just let it slide. Time to fix problems is early, before they become big problems....Let us know.
