Hi everyone,

Some of you may remember I said my last echo showed elevated pressure in the right side of my heart. I got a copy of that echo which was performed In December 07....it says:
* elevated estimated PA systolic pressure 45-60mmHg + right atrial pressure.

My echo from March reads:
*Pulmonary Pressure 35mm44Hg.

Is this considered high, and would it be enough to make me feel sooo unwell.?

Would the MV reg (moderate) and tricuspid reg (moderate) cause this or does this high pressure cause the valve problems.???

Could it be responsible for causing a.fib??

Sorry about all the questions, but Iv just tied another knot in that rope Nancy was talking about the other day!!!!

Any comments would be greatly appreciated, as ever !!!

Yes, it is high, and yes, it could cause you to feel unwell. It sounds like Pulmonary Hypertension which is a very high pressure in your lung areas.

Joe had Pulmonary Hypertention (PH). His was severe, and he had many of the symptoms you have been having. There are treatments for this problem.

Ok, got the browser back.

Here are the links for several sites for you.

It's a good idea to find out about PH. However, also be aware that echoes have been known to give very bad pulmonary pressure readings. Doesn't mean that it's wrong: just means that it's not final.

I would consider visiting a pulmonary specialist, if you have the means.

Best wishes,

*Thank you Nancy ((((hugs)))) and thank you Bob.

Could you tell me what are 'normal range' numbers for pulmonary heart pressures !!!!

Jacqui-

PH measurements are complicated and also Bob is right that echoes are not the gold standard for measurement. They can be incorrect especially re: PAP (pulmonary artery pressure). The right heart cath is the gold standard.

However, saying that, Joe last couple of echoes were very, very close to what the caths showed. That is because I fired a couple of inept techs and requested the very most precise tech the hospital had, she was absolutely flawless and I watched her work. It made a world of difference.

I really think your should join the PHA General Discussion Forum and present your case there. They will give you the best facts regarding possible PH. And they will have all the info. on the latest treatments. I know there are several new ones, since Joe was being treated.
