So very very sad..
Often times these are caused by Long QT syndrome Which is a Sudden Death arrythmia

I have it and so do 2 of my kids.. can be hard to detect.

There have been a good few cases in even a small country like Ireland in recent years, where young sportsmen have dropped dead.

Obstructive Hypertrophic Cardiomiopathy in most cases. It seems to be the most common (cardiac) condition whereby a person is more at risk of a sudden death event if involved in physical activity/sport.

My dad dropped with hypertrophic cardiomiopathy on a treadmill stress test once. They had to bring him back with the paddles. It took several tries.

I think you have something like 5 minutes, before it's too late.
There's been so many cases of sports related deaths

As far as i know Italy are the only counry in the world who have a blanket screening process for all young people involved in sport ( 12-14 years +).
