it has been three weeks since my aortic valve replacement. everything seems to be going pretty good. am going to cardiac rehab three days a week. there seems to be small increase in my stamina every day. so far (knock on wood) no setbacks, some days there was not such a marked improvement, some are even, but all things said i am far better shape than i hoped for at this time period. one drawback so far is no flying for three months, we will be driving from wi to fl, should take about three days, have to get out of car every hour to stretch my legs and walk to avoid stroke. hope all is going well for everyone else , any ?s please send to my pm. bob!

Very ahppy to hear you are recovering so well. Thanks for posting.

I, too, am curious why your doctor won't permit you to fly. Others here have posted they were able to fly home from the hospital. Certainly not questioning your doctor, we all know every case is unique and we must listen to our personal surgeons/cardios.

Good luck with a continuing wonderful recovery.

wow, cardiac rehab after 3 weeks...they wouldn't let me do it until 6 weeks minimum.

Glad to hear all is good, recovery over the next few months will constantly suprise you....

Good work.

Best wishes, glad you are doing so well, keep it up, wishing you a continude good recovery.

3 weeks after surgery

some of you asked why no flying for three months, i asked the dr. same ? when they performed the surgery they installed drain tubes into the lungs which came out of my abdomen used to drain buildup of fluids. the drains were abouit 1/2 inch plastic tubes, which were disconnected before i went home. the sutures were taken out last week. hope this clears everything up.
also i had leads connected to my heart in case i would need a pacemaker or help controlling the heartbeat. bob in grb!

Everyone does, but I've never heard of this before. Or are you saying they discharged you with them in and removed them later?
