I have just had my six-monthly check with the cardiologist having had my annual echo last month. Everything is perfectly fine, both valves behaving perfectly, ECG was fine, echo was fine. He is perfectly happy and says it should just be a question of keeping an eye on me with sixth monthly checks plus an annual echo unless anything changes.
He did comment that he had heard from the dental department at the hospital that my dentist had referrred me for a scale and polish due to the drug requirements. He said he confirmed with the dental department that with my history of endocarditis and with the two mechanical valves he considers me to be a high risk patient and wants intravenous gentamicin for me.
