The last few days have not been good. In fact - I just might take a mulligan tomorrow. I'm afraid it might discourage me enough to say "heck with it". Instread I may just put the clamps on, start drinking lots of water and hammer out a new resolve.

My short term goal is to make a specific pair of jeans feel bigger when I put them on. I may just wait to weigh in until that starts to happen. A new approach!

I am wondering if after this Friday's weigh-in, or maybe next Friday's (Dec. 21), we ought to suspend for the holidays, and kick off a brand new 2008 Throw-Down on Friday, Jan. 4. I read the pain in some of these holiday goodies posts. We would do well to use moderation in partaking but we shouldn't be consumed by guilt either at a time of great cheer.

Maybe I am all wet (wouldn't be the first time), so just say so if you think ol' SB is wimping out on you or letting you down.

Looking at last week's thread...Out of 115 replies. only about 12 really posting their weight for past week . Most were same, some loss.,,some gained......On the other hand..there were 949 viewing this 1 thread.....Don't know what to say about taking a break?.I know..for myself, how hard it is to lose the weight you gain back..even that one time I gained 2 lbs. Took forever to lose it again..Bonnie

Miss Bonnie, you're really being strong and you're probably correct to not slow down. However, I'm already on par with Karlynn, that is in need of a mulligan. I may do my very best (having been walking a lot more), make it through Christmas, and report in again after the New year. I already don't want to know what the scale would say; I'm one that will beat myself up. So, instead of hiding out and missing in action, this throw down soldier is taking a furlough.

I'll report for Cindy if she wishes.

All the best to all throw downers.

Wise..yes, I want all members to enjoy the Christmas goodies.:D But, remember most of goodies are made with the REAL thing..not low-fat.:( office parties, church Ladies, ect..One real sugar cookie..=300 calories. Lady on Fox and Friends this morning..showing the difference in cooking with all low-fat vs. real stuff...I am sure that was meant for us at home cooking..Not the well-wishers..with the plates of treats.:p I bought the red/green M/M's for my Grands this weekend. .I keep eyeing them over in the candy dish...:D .Bonnie

Maybe that's why they kicked it out of the other forum, only 10% stay on topic. Then again, if they did, there would only be 12 boring posts.

I plan on posting regardless of loss or gain. I also plan to continue the thread through the holidays. Post or don?t post your weight, it is up to you. We have had some drop out and some join. By the number of views it is obvious that people are enjoying the thread. And there is no doubt that we have some ?closet dieters?. There is no way to tell how many may be benefiting from this, weight loss or entertainment.

I will understand if any active losers want to take a holiday mulligan. But I also feel that ?out of sight, out of mind? is a very big part of this. Just my two cents.

Nope,

I don't want to suspend the thread until after the holidays.

I gained three pounds last week, and as of this morning, I have almost all of it off.

I need the accountability!

I'm not saying that everyone needs to weight, I'm saying that I need to weigh!

I'll continue to post my weight through th holidays - just maybe not tomorrow. If I weigh, I'll post - you have my word!

I was hoping that after the holidays I could join your group. I lost 35 pounds 2 years ago and have kept it off until this holiday season. 2 Weeks vacation in November,Thanksgiving,Anniversary, husbands birthday,my birthday and then Christmas and New Years all in 2 months. I have gained 7 pounds, I will post my weight and height now and continue to post during the holiday weeks gain or lose.

This morning:
Height-4'10"
Weight-130 lbs.
Gained 7 lbs in 7 weeks

Don't wait. Join in now. It's not as if there's any dues or initiation rituals. Just read and reply whenever you want. No one here will think any less of you, win, lose or draw. We're all in the same situation.

Welcome to another Georgia Peach..:D ....Start working on getting those 7 lbs off...May take weeks...did me..to lose a puny 9 lbs..:p more like 3 months.:( ..BUT. I have kelp them off...with the help of this diet thread..:) ..Everyone on this diet..has their own way of losing weight...Mine was avoiding Fast-food on trips..And NO potatoes or white bread....Sugar is not a problem for me..do not care for sweets..Another thing I do..is send Grands home with all their goodies I buy when they come to visit..if they are not in the kitchen..I will not be temped to eat them..:p thanks for coming on...maybe more will come out of the closet..and join us..hate to see this thread die out..and I am sure with looking at the number of views. others must enjoy it too.:D Bonnie

I, for one, do not want to suspend over the holiday. I need you guys in the back of my mind every time I make an eating choice. Am I denying myself entirely? No. Do I feel guilty when I make a bad choice? A little. But all in all I know I'm making better choices because of this accountability. If not for this throw down I KNOW I could not have lost the 12 pounds I've managed to lose. And I plan to lose at least 5 more. But even when I reach my goal, I hope to continue to have this support for MAINTAINING my weight. You've helped me not only in cutting down my portions/calories, but also in cutting down on sodium which I (apparently) really needed. I didn't even realize it until weighing more frequently for the throw down. So I thank you all and will continue for as long as you'll have me. :D

Hey guys - I think this means Niki is going to send us Christmas presents!!!!!:D

I love this thread

I love this thread

I never laughed so much the past couple days than when I read about the scones. :D You all support each other in a common goal and that's priceless.

My neighbor brought over a plate of baclava (spelling?) and it is to die for. She's Lebanese, everything she makes is out of this world! With all the goodies between now and New Years, I will sample each one and walk it off later. :p
