At the suggestion of a few others, this may bring more happiness to you if you dislike the sound of the tick from the Mech. Heart Valve.

Tick, Tick, Tick by Mike Buchter

Internally I hear the sound,
When I woke up no one was around,
Tick, Tick, Tick
I try to speak but no words come out,
My parents walk in with a terrified pout,
Tick, Tick, Tick
The cries of my wife,
It gave us new life,
Tick, Tick, Tick
That joyous sound,
Thank God I?m alive
Tick, Tick, Tick

brilliant!

I actually don't mind the sound of my ticking, but I'm only 2 weeks post op!
I can use it to take my pulse, and I can tell if I have any abnormal beats very easily. Also, Osaka is such a noisy city that I barely notice it over the dogs barking, sirens blaring, politicians shouting, and other random urban soundbytes. I guess that's what I get for living in a country that has no noise pollution laws!

I'll work on a haiku for OHS in general. Creative minds gather.

Thank you for sharing that with us Mike. I do love the sound of my ticking! It says so much. I love the way you said "It gave us new life" - not just you, but our wife and the rest of your family, for life without you would have been tragic for them.

Mike I liked your poem. You are such a positive soul, I sure hope you find a way around the ticking. My husband has had that ticking for 17 years. It's gotten a whole lot quieter as the years passed.

One thing hasn't changed. The cats love to snuggle up to his chest to hear his valve. For him, this is a positive thing.

Kind regards,
Blanche

Thankyou for sharing Mike. When I hear mine ticking it talks to me and says, "I gave you new life and a second chance." And I say thankyou.
