I'm not interested in stirring up a pro-statins vs. anti-statins debate. Just thought I'd share this link regarding their benefits in preventing heart attacks.

Personally, I'm not getting into it. I just think it's interesting that you find published studies that are pro and con on anything. Frankly, I've gotten to the place that I take almost any new study with a grain of salt, pro or con.

Eat my liver, but I won't have a heart attack. :D

Yeah and, as many members have attested to, it can cause muscle pain.

It obviously has benefits but, like most drugs, it has its down sides too. I have been one of the lucky ones and have had no ill effects.

I was really afraid to try statins and my cholerterol was so high. At first, I had some muscle resistence, but then, like Wise, it clamed down and all was well. I have been taking them for 5-6 years now. I fought this for a long time, but the numbers made the difference. I could not get it down on my own.

I am glad that I began with Zocor and will continue.

there is, appoarentlyl, lots of info to prove that statins definitely are a boon to society. Except for those who can't take them. God bless y'all.

They certainly brought my numbers down - but then my muscles, too and one or the other had to go.
