Thanks! I'll have to give it a try. So far all of my efforts have turned out pretty bland. Hopefully this will be just right! :)

Unfortunately last night I didn't do as well as I had hoped. It seems that if chips are in front of me, I can't help myself. I even told the waiter not to give me any more salsa (they refilled it before I even finished my little cup!). Unfortunately, the other guy helping us didn't get the memo and HE refilled it. You'd think I would just put it away from me, but no. I chowed down some more. I did order Tortilla soup for my meal, so at least I wasn't pigging out on enchiladas, rice, and beans.

Sadly, I weighed myself this morning and I'm up another pound. I'm fairly certain it's water weight, since I feel pretty swollen in my fingers and face. I did have a lot of sodium last night. We'll see if the weight comes off by tomorrow. Today at lunch we're going to La Madeline (again with family), so I'm probably going to go for a salad. At least I can't pig out on chips there!

Thanks for the support.

gnusgal, The best way to avoid finding the foods we love bland, is to stoke them up with other flavours. Have you tried using some of the salt replacement herb blends like Mrs Dash? They pack a punch without sacrificing flavour intensity. You can even ask for it at restaurants, since they come in little packets like salt and pepper. Failing that, carry some in your purse and ask the kitchen at the dining establishment to avoid seasoning with salt, especially if you're eating à la carte.

Good luck!

Ton.....how do you grow an inch??? I guess your posture is better?? That's amazing! I didn't know that we shrunk during the day. I will try measuring in the morning.....anything to help my currently frightening BMI! :p

I have poor weekend behavior also. We had step-in-laws in for a step-grandmother memorial (am I related to these people at all????;) ) and went out for Chinese with them afterwards. I ate mostly vegetables and tofu....a little beef and felt quite satisfied. Hubby, however, had a sweet craving so I ended up going to Krispy Kreme and eating 2 creme filled chocolate donuts.  Oh well. We'll see if that did any damage by the end of next week I guess. Not enough for a Mulligan. I'm definitely saving that opt out for awhile!! :)

It is now pouring here...and all week....guess I'll have to find a mall to walk in. Usually we just have kind of a constant drizzle and it's actually refreshing to walk in....... glad I have you guys to keep me motivated. It is so much less frustrating when I can pour out my little woes and little victories here.

Keep at it everyone!!

I did much better today, and yet feel just as full and satisfied. Just as I said I would, I had a salad at lunch. I also added a cup of tomato basil soup (yum!). For dinner I made catfish cakes and salad (my INR is high today, so I'm trying to get it back down). While I was at the grocery store for tonight's dinner I got some light pasta for lunch tomorrow and stir fry for dinner. Should do nicely. I also hope to go for a walk with my dogs tomorrow or go to the gym (or maybe both!). I've got to get back to being active.

Pamela, with most low sodium foods I don't have a problem with the flavor. We always cook low sodium and I frequently use Mrs. Dash or other salt substitutes (used some tonight, actually!). It's just the salsa that I haven't mastered. I don't think it's the lack of salt, I think I just haven't found the right combo of ingredients for me yet. I hope to try the one above and see if maybe it will be what I'm looking for.

Its weird hey?... ...For many many years I thought I was 5ft7in...quite possibly I have always had my height measured later in the day...I might do some 'googling' and see what I can learn...but I have heard more than once that our discs/bones etc settle throughout the day and thus you become shorter...(I always stand up really straight and tall when I get measured so I dont think it's the posture.) This brought my BMI in at 24.3...so now I dont really feel the need to lose weight , but do want desperately to lose/flatten the tummy which is making me look much bigger than I am. I must stop snacking/grazing all day long on treats. I have managed to cut down the cola fizzy drinks to less than 1 a day...so now I am trying to eat less handfulls of cashews and macadamia nuts:eek: .theyre high in calories.
Thankfully we dont have Crispy-Creme donuts over here. They sound so delish!

I am happy to report that I was successful in not letting my Friday night munch fest roll into Monday!!:D I did not get on the scales this weekend but this morning I was down a pound.:D I really need to hit it hard and heavy between now and Thanksgiving because starting Thanksgiving Day until 2008 I will be bombarded:eek: with all the foods that put me in the shape I am in now.

Good losing to everyone this week?.oh yes, I almost forgot, the State Fair is in town this month, CORNDOGS and FUNNEL CAKES!!!!!! :D

Now about getting taller.......I have always said that I was to short for my weight:rolleyes: Maybe someone could just put me on a rack and stretch me:p :p

Congrats on the success! I was excited this morning to see the scale back down a pound after having gained it last time. Now hopefully I can make it continue its downward path and not get back up any more. As for Thanksgiving to the end of the year, I know EXACTLY what you mean! That is going to be so tough! But with all of the support here, I know we can do it! (or at least not overdo it TOO much. ;) )

I am finding the food and health journal I started a week ago to be helpful. Part of it involves writing down everything I eat during the day -- snacks as well as meals. To write down something like "funnel cake" (one of those things must contain 3,000 calories) would bring anguish. :D

The journal is another form of accountability -- in addition to weighing in nekkid for the Throw-Down every Friday morning. :D Doesn't replace Cooker's (un)Clambake but reinforces it. :)

I was happy to see that I had only gained 8 oz...this morning..Being on the Lake and the huge cook=out Sat. night....from last Friday a.m. weigh-in..:) I am sure the Grandkids kelp me from gaining more..chasing after them.:p ..However, today..have been lazy..recouping from them..:D I started out good. but broke down and had a rye/ham sandwich....Ribs tonight..will still leave off bread/ potatoes in hopes to lose those 8 oz. and some more by Friday. Bonnie

I'm very proud of myself today. For lunch I had a simple turkey sandwich and salad, played outside with the dogs a little, went to the gym to use the weight machines and swim a few laps (that's MUCH harder than it sounds!) and for dinner I had no sodium pasta with low sodium tomato, mushrooms, and olives (not low sodium, but one of my other favorites). Of course, it helped that I didn't go to work today (Fair Day) and Nathan was at work, so I was able to do these things at my leisure. Tomorrow I don't have to go in to work until 3 PM, so I think I will try to convince Nathan (who does not work tomorrow) to take the dogs for a walk around our new neighborhood. Now that we're moved in I need to be more active about finding exercise oportunities. With the rec center being on the way home from work, I have no excuses! :D

Been thinking about how often we are hopping on the scales and what if any difference it is making to our efforts...
I started off weighing twice a day thinking I could catch any weightgain immediately and stop it in its tracks...then I noticed I was also having a mini pig-out on treats if I had lost a little weight...Now I have decided to try keep off the scales until Friday weigh-ins and see how that goes:D .
Today I have to be strong...limit the choccy cake; just a tiny thin slice at the birthday celebration is all I am allowing myself and all I will need as my sister makes the most delicious calorie-laden cakes.

HAVE A GREAT TUESDAY GANG!

Weighing twice a day!?!?!?! Pure torture!!!! I weigh every morning. This helps me keep my goal up front and allows a pat on the back or an OH S*&T:eek: slap up side the head if I take a little to much ?comfort?.:p

We all have our own way of doing this and everybody?s way seems to be working!!:) I was told after surgery to keep an eye on my weight??I did not. I hope that once I reach my goal that I will diligent to maintain my weight. Keeping in mind all of the negatives that go along with being over weight and the agony (at times) in righting the wrongs.
