I know how the invisible mode works and have been in it before, I don?t use it anymore. Here is my question. Why would a user be in the invisible mode and post to threads? It is obvious they are on line. You can see that it was posted 1 minute ago etc. I know people don?t log on, post and the log out. I can understand (I think) being in the mode to just read. I have actually had PM?s from users that I have never seen post (they have asked me not to reveal their communication).

It is somewhat annoying when someone in my ?buddy list? goes invisible. I know it must be a privacy issue or maybe they are just shy. Anyway, just curious. And if it none of my business just say so?????..I still ain?t disappearing:p  :p

It is not to annoy or be secretive. The reason I run "invisible" is because I kept forgetting to log out. I would get PMs from people who thought I was on-line and would get annoyed that I didn't answer. Simple reason.

I like to be very "stealthy", call me "the shadow". Actually, I do, now and again for Geebee's reason. Quite often, since I work at my computer, I'll forget I'm logged on. Then I'll forget I'm "invisible" and not de-select that option. In fact - I think I'm invisible now. Only my animals can see me!

Because I'm around to take out the trash and if the trash sees authority on line, it runs before I can nail it.

This brings up a different question for me. I never log out. Does that mean that I'm always showing that I'm here 24/7? May be a dumb question; don't know. Is it better to log out or does it matter?

When I forget to log out after a while I am automatically logged out.
This happens to me often now since I have a second phone line dedicated to computer only....way too easy to stay connected all day and forget.
Excuse me if posts and PMs seem to be ignored....I'm just out playing with the goats.:D

Oh gosh....what do you mean log in/log out?....I just go to valvereplacement.com and hit ?new posts?......should I log off every time I leave and log in when I come back?

...I didn't realize that it would look like I was still on the site:confused: ...
...Because I always just hit my red X up in the corner:eek: ...
...Guess I'd better start logging out:p ...

Don't worry folks, if you are inactive for 33 minutes it automatically logs you out. The reason you don't have to log in is because you marked that little checkbox on the upper right that says "remember me" so it logs you back in when you come to the site.

If you've made no activity for 1 hour, then your removed from the online list, but if you click anything and navigate anywhere in that hour, it resets the hour.

It's not necessary and in fact, I think inconvenient unless you share the computer with someone you don't trust.

Even if you log out, you will show as a guest for 1 full hour.

Tom,
When I first joined vr.com pre surgery the thought of surgery was all consuming and I felt like I was on this site 24/7 and I felt others would be thinking " that stupid woman is still on here " so by being invisible I didn't have to worry about that.
I am still invisible because I just haven't bothered to change it and didn't think anyone would even care. There is no sinister reason just my own silly selfconsciousness.

I don't know if you are or not, but it means that you do not show up on the who's online list.
