There is an article about "Women to Watch" in the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal recently. One of the women is Pamela Krop, who is a lawyer at St. Jude's Medical Inc. She says: "Our first product was a mechanical heart valve, and we're still a huge supplier. We see people all the time who have them, some for as long as 20 years. If you have one of our valves and you come to tour the plant, we can match you with the people who were involved in making your valve--and you can meet them".

Anyone up for a field trip?::D :D :D

Sure sounds interesting but it is a bit of a distance from here. Might consider it but not this year.

Valve on a chain:

Valve on a chain:

On the first anniversary of my surgery I posted a poem and said a couple of things about my appreciation for the pioneers who made the valves, etc. My wife said I should send it to St. Judes, which I did. I hadn't asked for anything, but they were kind enough to send a T-shirt and other small things, including an actual size plastic replica of the valve. It would be about the right size for a key-chain. Maybe you should drop them a line?

My two St Judes are over 22 years old. Could you supply me the link to the journal if there is one. It would be interesting and not one bit of a hike for me. We are in Shakopee.
