I'm writing this update for my father (who instructed me to do so after his surgery). He went into surgery for valve replacement surgery and to fix an aortic aneurysm on the afternoon of Friday, May 18. As of Saturday evening, he is in stable condition (to be completely honest, its amazing to me that he had heart surgery 24 hours ago because he's talking, eating, and in great spirits). The surgery lasted lasted about 3.5 hours @ Northwestern Medical hospital in Chicago, IL. His aneurysm was reported to be around 5cm. So far so good!

Please tell your dad that we are so happy all is going well. There will be good days and some not so good but he has a major hurdle behind him. Thank him for letting us know and thank you too for being a good son and posting for him.

Great news and thanks for the update. It is amazing what the body can tolerate. Glad that all is going so well and that his aneurysm is no longer something to worry about.

Thanks so much for the update. I wish him a continued smooth recovery.

I had my surgery at Northwestern.

Thanks for filling us in; glad to hear how well your dad is doing. He may be, as you may be also, surprised at how much better he will likely feel with a new and finely tuned valve. Glad the aneurysm is gone now also and hoping your dad has a steady and terrific recovery. Please give him our best wishes.

Hi Bill,

Thanks for the update. So far so good is right!

:)

By chance, was your dad's cardiologist Dr. Davison at Northwestern?

Cheers,

Adam

Thanks for the update and give your Dad our best wishes for a speedy and uneventful recovery.

Thank you for taking the time to update us!

Glad to know things are going well for your Dad. My cardiologist is at Northwestern.... I'll be there for a checkup on May 31.

Thoughts/prayers coming for a SUCCESSFUL recovery :).

Glad to hear the good news, and thanks for taking time to update us.
Is Northwestern where Dr. McCarthy practices? Karlynn? Cort? I'm getting old . . . and I've forgotten! :p :p :p :p
Oh, and by the way, May 31st is my birthday, Cort. ;) ;)
I'm sure you'll have a great check-up!:)

Excellent news. Hopefully, its all down hill now! As much as I dread the surgery, I really look forward to being able to have it behind me. Your Dad is blessed everything went so well.

Mary, I see our dear Karlynn already answered your question about McCarthy...

*grins*

Ah, now wouldn't that be nice. I could celebrate your birthday with a wonderful checkup.

Sure hope my Cubs don't play your Cardinals that day.........that would NOT be good. Why? Because I want to be able to celebrate a good checkup, your birthday, a Cubs win and a Cardinals win ... all on the same day.

Hmm...speaking of winning ... 2 of 3 from the White Sox over the weekend. How on earth did THAT happen?

Not that I'm complaining, mind you ;).
