Yesterday was the 60th anniversary of Jackie Robinson's debut as a Brooklyn Dodger. I can't imagine how hard it must have been for Mr. Robinson to walk out onto the field that day, but he did, and the game was changed for the better.

I was happy to read that ALL St. Louis Cardinals (suited up for the game) wore #42 (Mr. Robinson's number). I would have been very disappointed if they hadn't (I know, would they have cared if I was disappointed?:p I hope so!:p :p :p )

Albert Pujols seems to have hit his stride, always a good thing, and put last season's issues out of his mind.
I am also hopeful that manager Tony LaRuso is ready for the season and will be able to manage his terrific team of players. Maybe they will repeat as World champions; maybe not. They always have the potential, so if not this season, maybe next. They are "my team"!:)

Play Ball!   !

Justin went to the phillies game the night before his cath. He thought it would be the perfect way to not think about the cath and was even happier it was college night, so tix were less expensive, they got Tshirts and best of all it was dollar hotdog night lol (he could "only" eat 5 lol). it was also a pretty good game went 11 innings, but of course the Phils lost.
if it stops raining there is another one this week. since is is pretty bummed as you can imagine, I'm glad baseball always helps distract him, He actually Met Cal Ripken jr for his MAW trip Cal's last season.

*raises eyebrow curiously*

You READ about this? You didn't WATCH the game?

He he ... I'm shocked!

Hmmm...did you at least listen to John Rooney on the Cardinals radio broadcast?

;)

Seriously, though, I agree ... it was very cool of the teams to honor JR that way ... very classy indeed :).

Lyn,
I'm glad Justin was able to get to the game. Many times I realize I'm following sports as a distraction to other things going on in my life. I haven't been to a baseball game since I was a kid; maybe this will be the year!

And Cort, no, I didn't see or hear the game. I usually read about it in the morning newspaper. It's hard to snag an available tv, or radio, around my house.

Ah, spring in South Carolina! Baseball at it's best! USC Gamecocks and the Atlanta Braves!! Hotdogs and ice cold Coke!! The sun in your face, the fans....I love it all!!

Cooker,
Don't forget to wear your sunscreen and watch that coke! I've drank it and had my stomach burn for hours afterwards!  ;)

And I wish you would translate "Filo di seta ottenuto". I can't find it on a google search.:p :)

Hey,
Sure hope you don't mind sharing 'your' team!!!!:D ;) There's a few of us here who are big Redbird fans!! Pujol has helped me get back into baseball after so many years of being a Cinci Reds fan....way back during the Pete Rose days!!! (dating myself, aren't I?? )
Anyway, I am SO thrilled spring is here!
Enjoy!

Deb,

I'm glad to share! Robhol likes Alberto too; if we pick up a few more fans, we might be able to form our own VR cheering squad!

Boy Bubba,
I sure would like to go for a spin in one of those NASCARs.;) Think you could round us up one for the Florida reunion?;) :p

I'll see what I can do. I think Daytona will be going strong while we are down there (don't have the calendar with me). I do know Disney World has a race track. Maybe I can get Joe Gibbs Racing to send one over for us. :p :p :D

Bubba :)

Hmmm...then you just have to change that, my friend. Just tell all of those in your household that you MUST have at least ONE TV and ONE radio for the Cardinals broadcasts. Otherwise, they have to move to somewhere where it snows all year long.

*grins devilishly*

THAT should do it. Or ... if not, tell them you will consider them Cubs fans if they don't give you one TV and one radio every single game. THAT should do it for ya :).

He he

And, for goodness sakes ... get thyself to a GAME this year. That, my friend, is an ORDER!

*pauses and sighs*

Holy cow ... the things I do for Cardinals fans ... he he he
