Having cookie issues too! Was able to read her update. It sounds like they have their finger on the issues at hand. Did not realize her valve was leaking:(

Niki, hang in there my friend. Thoughts and prayers are coming your way. Looking forward to having you back here with us soon!

Take care....and rest!:)

I could read, but couldn't post on the carepage.
Niki, I hope everything goes well with the procedure, and you're soon back home in Texas.:)

Grrr... No cath today. My INR needs to be 1.8 or lower. It came in at 2.0. So we have to wait until tomorrow. It's pretty certain that it will be low enough tomorrow (it went from 2.6 on Monday to 2.0 today with only missing my Tuesday night dose). I'm set to have my INR checked tomorrow at 7:30, then (depending on the results, of course) I'll have the cath done. So once again, we are waiting.

Some of the most frustrating things about this are the fact that we have NOTHING to do for the rest of the afternoon/evening (Rochester doesn't have a whole lot to do), and we have no idea when to change our plane tickets to. We have tickets to leave tomorrow morning, but that's definitely going to have to change, but we won't know until after the flight time what the plan is. Nathan's guess is that we should set the new departure for Monday late afternoon. That way if I have defibrillator surgery Friday I may be released Saturday or Sunday and we can just stay in a hotel until Monday. OR, if I have a valve replacement, that may mean Nathan will have to head back without me on Monday (his mother has offered to come up and stay with me if that is the case), so that he can get back to work (as it is, he's going to have to call in for this weekend).

So the plan this afternoon is to call American Airlines to change our flight, call the vet to let them know we won't be picking up the dogs tomorrow, and take a nap (we've been up since 5:30).

Wish I had more news to report. But that's all she wrote for today. Another boring day in MN (and it's getting colder! :-(

Hey, guys. I'm still around and able to post on VR. I'm very glad we have wireless here at the hotel or I think both Nathan and I would be completely nuts already (it won't take much to push us over that edge ;) ).

Thanks for all of your thoughts and prayers. Wish they had made my INR go lower, but oh well... It will happen when it's supposed to happen. Better safe than sorry.

Oh, and I didn't know I had a leaking valve, either. It came as a complete shock on Tuesday. Hopefully the echos are right and the MUGGA was read wrong. I really don't want to have valve replacement surgery! I don't mind getting a defibrillator, but I'd rather not do VR again. :(

Thanks again!

Thinking of you

Thinking of you

Hi Niki,
Enjoyed reading your "adventures" at Mayo. It reminded me so much of my day of getting "worked up" at Cleveland. One appointment after another, and new ones getting added on here and there. We were there over 12 hours, and then had to go back early the next morning for the cath!
Hope they can get your cath done tomorrow and that your "treatment" is as uncomplicated as possible. It sounds like you have all your contingencies planned no matter what they decide to do. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers....

I can't believe that they are making such an issue out of an INR of 2.0 and wanting 1.8. Your talking a mere 3 seconds in clotting time. Next to nothing. When will these people learn? :(

Hey, Niki!
Come home to Texas real soon, ya hear!
The weather is getting real nice.
Don't remind me! ;) Walking just over a mile at 6:15 this morning was NOT a pleasant experience, and only partially because of the walk. Mostly it was because my ears just plain hurt from the cold. I don't own ear muffs and, surprisingly enough, I couldn't find any in Dallas before our trip. ;) If one more person tells me this is warm, I might just have to hit them. ;)

Lets hope it was a "false positive". Niki, can't they check for certain during your cath? Hope so.

Hang in there. I am sure it will work out in your favor!:)

*chuckles*

Ah ha ... sounds like you still have your sense of humor, Niki ... that, I'd say, is a good sign.

Thoughts/prayers coming your way, of course..............
