I signed up to get updates from her CB site, but sometimes I don't get them.
I've been online for a few hours now and never got an email saying there was a new update.

I'm so glad Jackie's made it through this again... and look forward to reading more positive updates throughout the day. Thanks everyone, for your prayers!

Jackie surgery is complete. We have not heard how long she was on the heart and lung bypass or if the valve was fixed or replaced. The message from the doctor is that it was a success. They will close up the incision and bring her into ICU within the next two hours.
 
Oh, good! Glad to hear the 2nd was a success. We're praying for you Jackie!

Jackie made it to ICU at about noon today. We were able to see her at about 12:45 pm (picture added) and she looks good. We also met with the surgeon at about 1 pm. He did replace that valve that was not working, rather than repair it, which sounds better. The plan again is to spend the next 18 to 24 hours in ICU before moving to a recovery room. Thanks again for the amazing amount of support and prayers.

I feel really bad for the whole family having to start all over with Jackie's recovery, but am very thankful that we can all breathe a collective sigh of relief once more. I feel better too, that they replaced that valve, I'd hate to think of the same one malfunctioning again.

They had replaced it with a mechanical the first time around. This time they were going to either repair or replace the one the put in on Friday. Thankfully, they chose to replace, otherwise I'd worry about the same thing happening againl.

I just got a call from another church member who had read the same thing, here is the latest post:

Jackie is being brought back to the operating room. She is draining more blood than they would like from her chest tube. Because of the clotting disorder she has, her blood is not clotting enough right now. The doctor is hesitant to give her too much medicine to make it clot better because of the risk of it clotting on the valve. She should be in the OR within the next 20 minutes.

I can't imagine the rollercoaster of emotions that Jackie's family is going through. Please keep Jackie at the top of your prayer list today!
 
Just got home after a long day awol and checked the site - here's the latest update:
Jackie got back to the ICU at about 5:15 pm. We were able to see her at about 5:30 pm (picture added). The chest tube draining is normal again. The will watch her closely tonight and hopefully take out her breathing tube later tonight. She may need a little extra time in the ICU. We will know more tomorrow. Thanks for the prayers – we still have a bit of a journey left.

I am feeling so badly and sending prayers that the night goes well and tomorrow is the start of a normal recovery.

Still praying! Hope she is not in tamponade:( Her clotting disorder will be rough ride as far as managing the Coumadin. Though I read somewhere that she was already taking it. And I am sure requires it for the disorder.

I decided to post on this original thread, I only started the other one to get peoples attention when Jackie went BACK AGAIN into the OR earlier today. It sounds like things are finally settling down for the Beach family. Here's the latest:

Jackie had her breathing tube removed within the last few minutes. She is happy to have that out - it looks very uncomfortable. I explained to her the adventure she went through today. She seemed glad to have had the faulty valve completely replaced. She is very much at peace tonight. Thank you for the prayers that have carried her through!

Jackie, please get some rest...you must be exhausted, I know I am! You've kept us all on the edge of our seats with your "adventures" the past 2 days.

Most of us only had to climb one mountain, not the whole range!
 
Thanks for posting the good news, Jean. Praying that this is the start of a normal recovery for Jackie and her family. It's been wonderful to see the pictures on the caringbridge site. She has a beautiful family and they have all had enough trauma to last a lifetime.
 
It would be VERY useful to know WHAT VALVE failed, the nature of the failure, and WHAT VALVE they put in the second time.

and I'm sure we'll find out that info eventually. I know that Jackie had talked about a St. Jude at one time, but that's all I know. Right now, the family just needs to focus on getting her through this, so I don't even want to ask that question.

Jackie had a pretty good night in the ICU. She did have a couple of episodes of nausea this morning, but not to the level she had before. They have figured out a better combination of pain medicine and nausea medicine. They are hoping to get her into a chair this morning in her ICU room. The specific pain she had before with the bad valve is not there, which is a great sign. She has a very positive attitude today. She was a little surprised that she went into the operating room twice yesterday - she was unconscious for about 12 hours yesterday, starting at about 7:30 am. We are praying that this time we are able to focus healing. The staff here have been awesome and have given great care.

Jackie's sitting in chair in the ICU. They are planning to move her to a recover room this morning. She is feeling pretty good - much better than the first time around.

Great news- looking forward to hearing that she is in the step down unit soon and doing what she is suppose to do- recovering!
