This is from one of my CHD list, it is so sad, please keep this guy and his family in your prayers. First it the first post and below that the update.Lyn

Friends and fellow CHD families, PLEASE join me in
prayer to support my dear friend who's son Tim who had Heart Valve replacement
surgery on Friday. He has had a very rocky recovery (well recovery isn't the
right word) He has now had a brain bleed and on top of that pneumonia, things
look bad..........He is 18 years old was living his life to the fullest, just
completed high school and looking forward to college/uni as soon as the little
road hump was over(the surgery), he had even passed the admission test for
Airforce reserves, was fit and very active. There was no reason to think that he
wouldn't do well and no one really knows what has gone wrong yet. Its likely
that the valve threw a clot which went to the brain, but he is on blood
thinners. His Mumma is distraught, she has been my ROCK with support for my to
heart kids thinking that her son was so "minor" heart wise now...............
Please pray that the surgeon's, cardiologist, intensevist's and all the
wonderful ICU staff can help him make it off the vent and onto recovery. His
mumma isn't ready to let go and there are some signs that he is "still" in
there............but they have had to sedate him because he was biting and
pulling at tubes vital for his survival right now.
The mumma's name is Devlyn and her son is Tim.
I will keep you all updated,
Hugs Nicki

Sadly this update isn't a positive one, Tim isn't doing great. Since my
phonecall with his Mum this am things have got worse, he now has developed adult
respitory distress syndrome and is looking at getting a tracheostomy very soon
if this doesn't reverse in the next 24 hours. ONLY upside to this is his heart
is looking great, pressures are great and new valve is working very
well..............Please continue to pray,
Hugs Nicki

thanks slightly better report

thanks slightly better report

Tim has made some improvement, they are able to now hold off on the Trach as the
last extra and his "breathing up" has improved slightly...........YAHOO small
steps............ He is now day 6 on the vent. His Mumma reports that brain
injury was caused by low o2 which is better in someways than a clot but its
still brain injury............will not know extent of it until he is woken up.
TO unstable to move for MRI at this stage. Trying to stabilize so that can move
him off the critical status so he can then have a MRI to show the extent of
brain injury..........
Continue to pray please..............Hugs Nicki

Tim and his Mom are definitely in my prayers, Lyn, and they will continue to be. Please let them know that many, many prayers are being sent their way; it just might help them have some peace of mind.

Ay yi yi. The poor kid.

Hopefully at his young age he will be strong enough to pull through just fine.

My thoughts are with him.

Glad to read there is a little improvement. I will continue to keep him and his family in my prayers. I'm sure this hits way to close to home for you Lyn. Prayers for you too.
