I may be getting a pacemaker soon (long story) and was wondering if anyone knows if they require you to stop Ibuprofen like they do aspirin about a week before surgery???

I'm taking the 800's for chest muscle problems, I forgot to ask the nurse the other day

Yes, you should stop the Ibuprofen also. It can cause the same increased risk of bleeding. Call your Dr. office to make sure, but I would discontinue unless they say otherwise.

Hi Lynn -

Do you take aspirin therapy and ibuprofen? I may be wrong but I thought the ibuprofen can negate the effect of the aspirin...?

Does anyone else know for sure about this?

Hope all goes well for you Lynn!

Hi Lynn,

Yes, you would want to stop taking the Ibuprofen. Have heard of stopping up to two weeks prior. So you may wish to confirm.

Question, assuming you are on Coumadin? How is the Ibuprofen effecting your INR?

Nope, not on aspirin or coumadin :)

I did have alot of bleeding during OHS, so I guess I better stop NOW, that's what I thought and thanx for confirming!!!
