"The Order of the Tawdry Shirt"

You *DO* have such a way with words!! :)

ps- I'm delivering the original to Nan while she's still in the hospital post-op. Her son's going to make the photo and they're going to return the shirt to me while I'm at Beth Israel. How convenient! :)

I think this is great and can't wait to see the pictures! We're going to end up with people having "elective" AVR surgery just to get to wear the shirt!- well, maybe NOT.

Way cool...

Way cool...

I love it...this is what VR.COM is all about.

Nan girlfriend...I remember the winter of 2000 when you sent a couple of bottles of wine to our reunion in San Antonio and then suggested that I visit the Met to see the Christmas Exhibit which was wonderful -- fond memories and best wishes to you tomorrow.

StretchL...buena suerte with your surgery/recovery and most importantly with the cherished photograph. We all await with baited breath..:D

David...buena suerte tambien with your surgery and isn't it fine the "Tawdry Shirt" is coming to the great state of Texas!

.....Great idea Bob and what a tradition it will be.

Gracias, Amiga...

Unfortunately, I'm up to my arse in red tape with the muckety mucks at Beth Israel as I attempt to get a photographer into my OR. I don't think even the Great Dr. Stelzer can help with this one. :(

The shooter gets back from Afghanistan Wednesday, so hopefully we'll make some progress in the next couple of days.

Wow think of it - a photo series starting with you hopping up on the operating table, and ending with you doing a victory dance in your recovery shirt!

So glamorous!

Stretch,

Do they video the surgeries at Beth? I have heard that some hospitals are for documentation/legal reasons. I'm sure that's their objection to your photog. Good luck with their red tape. Maybe if you agree to provide copies and releases and such....

I'm gonna check with Presby to see if they video and I can get a copy. If they do, I'm thinking they can't deny since it is part of my medical records. I would love to watch it after - assuming everything goes well of course.

Sheza,

Thanks for the well wishes. I'll wear the shirt proudly.

I've worked a lot with hospitals, and a fair amount in ORs (pediatric OHS in Poland, a fascinating exploratoray procedure on a 7 mo. pregnant woman in Ghana, have been the most interesting).

This red tape is pretty much par for the course, although the hospitals are much more willing to admit a camera if they're the one requesting, of course...

The Odor (uh... Order) of the Tawdry Shirt

The Odor (uh... Order) of the Tawdry Shirt

Bob,

What a tremendous relief!!! I came home today to a box with various tape, labels, and a zipcode modification sticker.... What a fitting repository for the "Order of the Tawdry Shirt (1st Runner Up)" 1st Honorary.... Shirt!!

I decided I needed a before and after pic so I got out my tripod and have made the "before" pic in memorium of an uncut chest.

I'll post both after my official induction into the Order...

Thanks again - it is a doozy of a shirt by the way

p.s. Sorry for the zipcode snafu - guess I fat fingered the 9 instead of the 0. Glad y'all got it figured out. Gotta give us Texas boys more than one shot at complicated numbers....
