I've had my St.Jude Aortic for 4 and a half years now. My native that got resuspended when the aneurysm blew lasted for 7 years before the St. Jude was inplanted.

Been a while!

Been a while!

Got my first aortic valve, a Starr-Edwards ball and cage, Mar 2, 1982.

Had that replaced with a St. Jude aortic (with the dacron sleeve to fix an aneurysm) and a new St Jude Mitral on Feb 6, 2001.

Looks like I owe the last 25 years to Duke University and clean living!:D :D

AVR/Root/Bentall with 23mm.St. Jude.... March 25..2002..almost 5 years..:) .. Other than remembering to take my Warfarin everyday..No problems.:) Bonnie

I've had my St Jude aortic valve for around ten years and five months.

Man it never amazes me when people go through this more than once, sounds like you like the taste of hospital food :p

Hope you get 16 out of the latest one....

*nods*

Thank you :). Somehow, I doubt I'll have that kind of luck, given all of the complications I've had .. but, well, ya never know ;).

As for the hospital food ... depends on who is serving it to ya ;). He he he

Cort, I can't get over that as a young guy you got 16 years out of a 1987 technology pigs valve, I am looking for 12 years and I am in my forties anything more I am considering a bonus.

He he he...it is all about perspective ;). Several others have commented about the longevity of the 1987 valve ... I'm not surprised ... after all, my '87 Monte Carlo LS is a trooper, too ;). He he he

They got some topnotch cutters at Duke don't they Chuck. I guess that makes up for some of the nastiest hospital food I've ever tasted. :D

Hey Deb!

Thank ya ... I've enjoyed reading the different ages our implantations have been.....

Hey Betty :).

I'd forgotten you had your surgery shortly before mine. Actually, I believe you had your surgery just before I joined VR ... which was in late 2002, shortly before my grandmother's death in October of that year.....
