Remember the tooth extraction I had scheduled? NIGHTMARE!!!!!
I just got home from my second hospitalization since having the tooth pulled on November 14th. I was put in the hospital on the night of the 15th when I had a reaction to the packing used after the extraction. They put me in the hospital since it appeared I had an infection and they wanted to guard against endocarditis. Was released on Saturday, the 18th, since the first set of blood cultures came back negative.
Got a call this past Tuesday telling me that the set of blood cultures done on Friday (the 17th) had grown "something" but it was inconclusive (whatever that means). Tuesday afternoon I went back into the hospital for more blood cultures and IV antibiotics while the blood cultures cooked.
Hospital Thanksgiving dinner is not something to experience unless you are set on torturing yourself.
After 3 days of Gentamicin/Ceftriaxone cocktails (not mixed - maybe it would have been more fun), I was released today because the blood cultures are negative. No turkey leftovers for the weekend, no pumpkin pie waiting for me, no stuffing.
I am majorly depressed and my arms look like purple pin cushions. However, I am still around and asking for prayers that I don't get anymore calls about inconclusive blood cultures. I am staying out of the hospital and will let my teeth fall out on their own in the future.
Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and are enjoying the leftovers.
Thanks for listening to me whine.
