Ellen Degeneres: the foldout

And, yes, this is "the" Ellen Degeneres. At least, my Ellen Degeneres.
She's a Norwegian Forest Cat and she became a grand champion (Cat Fanciers Association) in San Antonio TX yesterday (10/22/06). Like the human Ellen Degeneres, she loves to dance (for the cat show judges) and is quite opinionated at times.

She was born in Des Moines, Iowa. I flew to get her in late April and she promptly lost all her beautiful long fur. So she stayed at home from early July until late September, with drapery lining material over her bedroom windows, much like being back at "home" in the Norwegian forests.

Ellen will stay in Texas a little while longer and then go home to Des Moines.

We usually have a "grand" party when a cat becomes a grand. I told my friends that we'll have lutefisk instead of a cake.

Ellen's a really great cat -- gets along with everyone (feline as well as human).
She will return to her breeders in Des Moines, Iowa, some time in the spring after I show her a little bit longer.

We've been fostering a Russian Blue wannabee who may have found a forever home in the Dallas area. That cat -- "Anastasia" -- also gets along with any one or any cat. She's been living with us since July, when our rescue group pulled her from the Arlington (TX) city shelter along with a blue daughter. I was told the black kittens in the litter were reportedly euthanized.
