Things seem to be going from bad to worse here. We just got a call this afternoon that one of my brothers died today. He was living in New Hampshire, a half a country away from me. At first they thought it was a car accident but then we heard he had another heart attack. He was found in his truck on the side of the road.
He is the one I asked prayers for not too long ago. He had a heart attack 4-5 years ago. He also had non-hodgkin lymphoma which had been in remission but was back. He had started chemo this past Monday. He leaves 2 adult daughters who were very close to their dad.

I will not be going to go up for the funeral. I have decided that I need to be home with my husband. He has finished with his radiation treatments for his lung cancer. He had 13 treatments. He started chemo this past Tuesday. He seems to be fine during the day but some evening he just acts wore out and out of it. Tonight he threw up, had a temperature, burning sensation when urinating, ....We called the doctor and she called in a prescription for antibiotics. I really do not think I should be leaving him alone even for a few days.

Please pray for us, especially my mom. This is the second son she loses in less that 2 years.

Oh Praline, I was so very sorry to read your post. Please accept my condolences to you and all of your family, especially your mother. How very heartbreaking for her.

Glad your husband is through one part of his treatment....hope he does well with the next phase. I've heard that the chemo can be difficult, but if it helps, it is worth the battle. Hope his current infection clears up soon.

Take care, keeping you in my thoughts,

Oh Praline,
How much can one family take? My heart just absolutely breaks into pieces over this bit of news. I know I would be of no good to you, but boy I sure wish I could give you a heartfelt hug right now. I will just have to tell you I will continue to hold you tight in my thoughts as I lift up your mama, your husband, your brother's family and you.

I am praying for you still that you find the strength somewhere to get through all this and still be your optimistic self. I agree that staying home with your husband is the best thing you can do for your family.

Praline,
I am so sorry - it just doesn't seem fair for one family to have to deal with so much at once. I'll be thinking of you in the days ahead. Kate

Praline, our hearts go out to you. Our prayers are with you and your family, and your dear mother. Bless her heart. I saw my mother go through losing two sons and no one knows the extent of their pain but them. We pray for a lot of support for your mom; you certainly aren't in a position to do it all. You have an extraordinary attitude in the midst of trials. I pray for your strength and spirit to hold up.

Dear Praline:

My husband and I have also recently gone through an incredibly difficult time, and when I read this most recent post regarding the tragic news of your brother, my heart broke for you. My husband says some times life can be hard. He is right, sometimes it is. And, it sounds like your family has had a heaping dose of "life" this past month.
Please note that we will include you, your husband, your brother, and all that you love, in our prayers in the coming weeks.

May God sustain you.

hi praline,
we're so sorry that you have to deal with all this pain.
i agree that you should stay with your husband; you'd be worrying about him the entire time away, so what good would that do? it's what you'd feel more comfortable with in your heart.
please accept our deepest sympathies and know that you and your entire family are in our thoughts and prayers.
wishing you all the best,
sylvia
