Yes, it's very cool. I've been thinking about upgrading to the subscription version. Does anyone have that and use it, in order to give me an opinion on whether it's worth it?

I have used it for a couple of years to help in a Geneology project. Tried a
free trial upgrade, but didn't feel it was worth keeping.

Some nights when I'm bored, I just get on it on "fly"" to some place. Some of the tilt features are really cool. Another neat feature is to email views of places you have been to your friends. It is like an Earth video game!:)

When I can see into womens windows, then I'll download it. Until then, it's not close enough!

It's fun, but I agree with aussigal- I don't think I would pay for it.

Google Earth

As many of you know, our home is quite remote, and can't be seen from the road. So I was very surprised a few months ago when a young man working on a project to provide hi-speed wireless access throughout the county drove over the hill and up to the house. After verifying he was who he said he was, I got around to asking him what brought him up our road and into the driveway.

It turns out he saw our house on Google Earth, and because of it's elevation and location wanted to talk to us about a small relay station for signals that would be broadcast from the top of Redondo mountain. If that worked out we would be thrilled to have hi-speed access for the first time since we got here. (And perhaps for free). With our dial-up access we don't get to use products such as Google Earth, but obviously the all seeing eye in the sky sees us, even though we are tucked into the canyon wall. We live in interesting times.

Pretty interesting stuff. I've seen my school where I work, my parents' house, my place. My husband even made "points of interest" for where we first met and got married. Nice! :D

Several of the addresses pointed to the wrong house. They were the right street, but the wrong house. But all in all pretty darned interesting.

I found that too, Nancy and the pictures are not in "real time", so in some cases streets or buildings may have changed.

I don't use it a whole lot, but I love Google Earth. Recently I used it to find a route my kids could take to the bowling alley on their bikes while avoiding the busy highway it's actually on. It saved my the gas it would have taken to figure it out by car.
