Welcome to the post surgery side

I am pleased your surgery went well. Eating and drinking is important for the recovery so keep trying. Most of the discomfort from the operation goes in about 3 weeks. I look forward to reading more about your recovery in the future. :)

I'm very glad to hear your operation went well and that you are back home. Pain and uncomfort will last for a few days, but pretty soon you will feel much better.

Glad to hear from you. My pain was similar seemed to run from my chest through my torso to my shoulder blade. It did go away after about 2 weeks. Keep your had up, it will get better.

after all good news still i become nervous by sounds very soon and its strange for me how strongly it changes my condition ,,i have pain in my chest and all over my body then i start crying ! poor mother ...my ilness will made her sick at lat . whole the day she is just taking care of me .

other things r gettings better day by day. i have some new drugs hope they help me .
anyway ..lets see what will happen ...i have to wait .

one thing i forgot to tell you ...before the surgery day i read your post and you cant imagine how it made me fell strong and comfortable .
best wishes and lots of prayers for all .

Hi Solmaz,
I'm glad things are getting better for you. Please be careful about how much you do. It take a long time to recover from open heart surgery and your body needs time to heal. Certainly walk and eat well, but be careful about bike riding or other strenuous activity until you are sure it will feel okay to do it. Keep breathing deeply to keep your lungs clear.

Having your blood taken daily for your PT is too often. Hopefully they are not changing our medication dose daily. The drug you take to keep your blood from clotting too fast, takes 3 days to fully enter your system. So the medication you take today for it won't show up in your PT number until Friday or Saturday. Your PT number today shows the medication effect from your dose 3 days ago. Try to see if they will only test your blood once a week. Or if your PT number is too low, just every 3 days, not every day.

Best wishes!

Hi, Solmaz! It sounds like you're up and down emotionally just like most of us were after surgery. It's so hard on you physically and emotionally during recovery. Please - if you find yourself depressed, talk to your doctor. Many of us needed help from antidepressants after open heart surgery - any heart problem can cause depression - it's a common and well-known effect. Don't try to tough it out by yourself.

And your mother - it's hard being the caregiver for the post-ohs patient. We're just not very capable of doing much for ourselves. Perhaps when you feel better you can do something very special for her to thank her for the good care she's giving you. None of us would have gotten very far without our dear hubbies, parents, or other friends or relatives in the couple of weeks after we got home from the hospital.

We have a mantra here for post-op folks - breathe, walk and nap! The first two are hard, the third is a breeze! The more you deep breathe and walk the faster you'll get all the residual chemicals out of your system and you'll be back to your old self (only improved).

Solmaz
Glad you are feeling better but it is best if you take it easy for a few weeks. My doctor recommended me not to drive for at least 12 weeks and even sit in the back seat while in the car, in case we had to stop suddendly or had minor accident and the air bag open. The body needs time to heal

Solmaz, I am so happy to hear you are doing a little better each day. It is hard to see the small steps of progress you are making, but I am sure your mother sees them. Have faith, there will be good days and others that are not as good, but as long as the good out number the bad, you are on your way. Try to eat small frequent meals. You may tolerate this a little better. Best wishes to your Mom, she needs to care for herself too.Keep us posted on how you are doing. You are in our prayers. Deb
