I was about to ask it, too................but, hey, I don't see Justin's vote anywhere in the 10-20 group. He'll be a trend setter. Katie's feeling kind of lonely down there in the under 10 spot, too, right now! Hugs. J.

that's because i was trying to decide if i should put the surgery at 18 months when he could have got a valve but decided against givng him one since it would just mean he would defenately need another surgery, or 10 when they thought about giving him a valve or last year when he finally had a pulm valve lol sadly w/ his conduit needing replaced every 10 or so years until they come up w/ the ones that are of his own cells, i got depressed when I thought he probably will end up w/ every age group getting a valve, BUt then decided that was a good thing, since that meant he was doing fine.
see i think too much uggg Lyn

i'm 39, had my AVR at 35... feel like i'm 29.. guess that's a good thing.. surprising how happy your body can get when you stop feeding it fast food... still addicted to peanut m&m's - but hey, gotta have some guilty pleasures ;)

I think Ross is looking for the patient's age now, not when surgery occurred. Although I could have misintepreted.

Seeing as I just turned 60, it really hurt to click on that 60-70 age group!!!! I am coming up on my first anniversary of my AVR in a couple weeks, can't believe it has been a year, hopefully will have many more!!!! Rose

That means I'm just under the Owner and Administrator. His henchman if you will. Vice president in charge of Vice naturally.

I am sure that the parents of the 2..under age 10..can see..that there is life after valve surgery...:) Noting that we have 2 in the over 70 age..:D Love this thread.....hope it runs for a few weeks..Than ..we can give a prize..to the oldest and the youngest.(If the oldest will come forward:p ).....Maybe just a special thread for them.... Title.....Congrats to the youngest and the oldest member on Valvereplacement.com....:) :) :) Bonnie

I chose the 20-30 category, but I will be moving into the 30-40 category in a few months. Kind of hard to believe I've made it to the big three-oh (yeah, I know it's not that old). I certainly don't mind it, but it's hard to think of myself as that age. My gut reaction is always to say I'm 24 or something like that. Then suddenly I remember, "No, I'm 29." Did I get stuck in a time warp or something? ;)

Seriously, though, the only thing that bothers me is that store clerks have started calling me "ma'am." I just don't feel like a "ma'am." ;)

oh i like this...i have a choice....i can either linger in the 40-50 range or jump right over into the 50-60 range. age stays the same but the psychological affect on ego is most definitely enhanced in the 40-50 range....turned 50 a couple of weeks ago...perhaps this is a sign i am still in denial! i voted for the 40-50 range.
hanging on by a thread,
debbi

What Age Group Are You In?

I still lurk now and then, but I must raise my hand and be counted this time. I had OHS for mitral valve repair plus pacer added in May two years ago. Found lots of good advice and support right here. Just observed my 81st birthday on May 10 this year. Procedure did not help atrial fib--have meds of Propanolol (Inderal), Furosemide, Warfarin (Taro), Digitek, and Nexium. Still live alone and try to keep up with yard and flowers (acre) plus cook, clean, etc. Slow going. Long recovery but stronger this year than last. Have a few other health problems, also, but cardio says he is not worried about my heart if the rest of me holds up--smile. Thanks for listening!

It might be interesting to have a separate poll for Age at Surgery
(probably best to say First Surgery for those who have had more than one)

20-30

20-30

I voted 20-30 because I turned 30 only 6 months ago! That still counts right?
