Hi my name is Emily. I'm Randy's daughter. My dad wanted me to write and tell you he is in the hospital. He went to the E.R this morning and they're keeping him over night. It appears to be a bad case of acid reflex. We are waiting for the results from his catscan and echo. It is definitely not a heart attack.

good news it's not a heart attack! Protonix does wonders for acid reflux. They were giving it to me in the hospital, and the heart transplant guy next to me.

good luck!

In my prayers

Hi Emily,
Thank you for posting to let us all know. I will be keeping your dad and your family in my prayers that everything will be alright.

Emily, thanks for letting us know.

Emily, thanks for letting us know.

We appreciate the update. Sending our prayers that this is just acid reflux. Many hugs. Janet

Please tell me they did a Catscan on him!!! For the size of his aneurysm, I would not be surprised at all if it's started dissecting. He's most definately showing the signs of being in major trouble. I'm appalled that they are letting him walk around with a 5.3 annie and taking their good old time about getting him into surgery. I truly fear for his life.

Thanks for posting, Emily- sending best wishes your Dad's way and will be anxious for an update.

Keeping your dad in my prayers. I hope they find out what is wrong and get him fixed.

Hello, Emily. Thank you for postig for your dad. Scary times for your family, I'm sure. Glad to hear that they're thinking it's acid reflux. I hope they have checked him out thoroughly, as Ross has suggested. Looking forward to hearing back from him.

In the meantime, if there is any more news, we'd appreciate hearing it. Thanks again. And very best wishes for Randy. I will carry him in my thoughts today.

Same here Emily. Thanks for the update. Your dad had written me a message & I'd responded. I was wondering why I had not heard from him in a few days. Now I know. My thoughts & prayers are with him and you and your family! I'm sure it'll be ok. At least he's in the hospital now, where they can monitor him.

And I agree with Ross. Hopefully they're doing the appropriate medical tests on him now.

Emily,

Send your perfect peace, Lord!!

Send your perfect peace, Lord!!

When I Don?t Know What To Do

Lord I surrender all to Your strong and faithful hand
In everything I will give thanks to You
I?ll just trust Your perfect plan
Chorus
When I don?t know what to do
I?ll lift my hands
When I don?t know what to say
I?ll speak Your praise
When I don?t know where to go
I?ll run to Your throne
When I don?t know what to think
I?ll stand on Your truth
When I don?t know what to do
Lord I surrender all
Though I?ll never understand
All the mysteries around me
I?ll just trust your perfect plan
Bridge
As I bow my knee
Send Your perfect peace
Send Your perfect peace Lord
As I lift my hands
Let Your healing come
Let Your healing come to me

Emily, thanks for letting us know about your Dad. I just went back over his blog again and copied the words to the song he posted. The words are so good!! And God does have a perfect plan for Randy and you and your Mom and sister. And His timing is always "right on". It's no fun watching a parent having such health problems just as it is for a parent who has a sick child. But God is in control; trust in Him! There are a lot of folks praying for all of you.

Love and hugs, Barb

Thanks for posting Emily. Your dad will be in my thoughts and prayers. This must be a scary thing for all around.

No, one would not expect it to be a heart attack. Randy is bicuspid, and typically their coronary arteries are just fine.

But he has a very fragile, thin aorta. An aorta in trouble - tearing, on the verge of rupture - can have various symptoms. I am extremely concerned with a known aneurysm of this size. I believe I read that Randy had had symptoms that he called about not too long ago as well.

If this were myself or my loved one, I would not let anyone pass this off as some type of grastric condition. Jonathan Larson, the New York playwright, was sent home from two different hospitals - told it was flu or food poisoning - and died of aortic dissection.

Whoever is reading his CT scan needs to be very knowledgable about the aorta. Some tears are difficult to see, and it takes expert eyes.

Blood pressure should also be lowered immediately and kept low to remove stress off the aortic wall. I am not sure how well Randy's blood pressure has been controlled?

Aortic aneurysms/disease is extremely unpredictable and requires strong expertise to avoid emergencies. There is no margin for error.

Like Ross and others, I am extremely concerned for Randy.

Randy and his family have my prayers.

I agree, I hope they are doing further tests than just calling it acid reflux. I hope thats all it is. As far as Bicuspid patients having normal Arteries? I can't go along with that one. Several of us here also have coronary artery disease...No such thing as normal I'm afraid. Tell him to feel better soon.
