My 14 year old daughter had valve replacement surgery (aortic valve in October of 2002. She has recently been gradually having increasing abnormal blood values for hemoglobin and hematocrit. I was wondering if anyone knows what this may mean.
her hemoglobin is now 15.1 (normal 11.4-13.9)
her hematocrit is now 42.9 (normal 34.7-41.5)
Her RBC has been climbing and her MCH and MCHC are high as well 30.5 and 35.2 respectively.
Could the coumadin cause this abnormal result? I thought it was supposed to cause the opposite effect (anemia). Thanks for any advice.
