Aortic valves ARE repaired, maybe that surgeon doesn't, but they have been repaired for over fifty years! Not as often as mitrals, but it is still possible. Pre-1960, a repaired aortic valve was the only way to survive. I know someone who
had an aortic repair in 1959 that lasted for 49 till he had it replaced.

I realize we are probably more critical of these things then we should be, but it's misstatements like that, that cause problems. I don't know, it just bugs me.
