Prevnar Vaccine after Valve Replacement?

There is a vaccine out called Prevnar which may help prevent some forms of Pneumococcus from causing invasive disease. IPD can lead to Endocarditis, which is the "infection of inner lining of heart and valves". Why are Cardiologists not using this for all patients who have had valve replacements? See below:

I did get a "pneumonia vaccine" at the hospital when I was in for surgery. I believe that Prevnar is a special pneumonia vaccine for babies. More info (than you ever wanted) here: http://www.immunize.org/askexperts/experts_pneumococcal_vaccines.asp

Prevnar was developed originally for babies, but recently got FDA approval for adults...

"Prevnar 13 is recommended for all children younger than 5 years old and for adults with certain risk factors." http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/vpd-vac/pneumo/

CDC recommended last year that both Prevnar and Pneumovax be given to certain adults. Just don't know why I haven't been called about it yet?

I too was given a pneumonia vaccine prior to being discharged after AVR.
