Poster Logistics for a Newbie

I am puzzled by the mechanics of this Posting system, as it seems to string my replies all together vs a separate reply to each person who replied to my Post. How can a Reply be made that keeps it specific to that person? (Not asking about the larger Thread series, which is useful) Thanks for any clues to what I'm doing wrong.

it can't really ... the decision of design is on the thread (which is public). The most you can do is do as I've done here where you can see I've replied to you and you can then reply to me and clicking the arrow will take you up the chain to that ... its not a branched node system.

If you just blithely reply without quoting at least a section its just impossible. You can either click reply (quoting all the message and then carefully editing out what you want), or you can select a section of the post and reply to that
