Hi Everyone,
Garry had AVR surgery on January 4/01 at Vancouver General. He also had mitral valve repair. He developed a severe leak in Mitral valve after surgery and they debated for 5 days whether to go back in and replace Mitral valve. They decided to wait as it went from severe to moderate. He has never really felt good. Always tired, out of breath and chest pain. They have been doing echograms and on the last one - June 15th/01 they discovered a blockage on left side of the heart just above his new pig's valve. His gradient(whatever that means) has gone from 41 to 169. They have put him on 200 grams metoprolol and are going to do another echo in 4 weeks. They have consulted with Board of Specialists in Vancouver and have fwd his charts to Toronto and are awaiting advise from there. It is pretty scarey when the doctors don't know what to do. Any help or advise would be appreciated. Lula - Garry
