Hello All! My Mom went to pacer doctor today for recheck after her getting a broken pacer wire fixed last month. Dr told her she is retaining water, double up on lasix and come back in a month. My question is the cause...could it be something from the surgery, or extra stress she has been under from her job lately? Any ideas? Am going to ask her about sodium tonight...but does stress cause retention in people? Just wondering-thanks!!!;);) Deb

Doubt the fluid retention has anything to do with the pacer surgery. They probably just used a local for the surgery, and it probably didn't take more than an hour or two at the most. You could check out www.pacemakerclub.com for ideas though. Fluid retention can be a sign of congestive heart failure - you might want to discuss with the doctor.
