I met with my son's surgeon this afternoon and he spent over an hour with me going over my questions and giving me my options. I feel so much better now that we've talked about it. We had been emailing but it was better to sit down and discuss it. I didn't take Idrees with me because I don't need him to know this early that he'll be needing another surgery. Because Idrees takes coumadin, he will be admitted 2-3 days early for the heparin drip. The surgeon is leaning towards replacing Idrees' homograft with the Hancock II bioprosthetic and he explained his reasons. I did ask about the 3rd generation Medtronic Mosaic but he said he does not use it anymore because while the sewing ring is nice and big, the valve area is smaller and with kids they want to oversize if possible to allow for growth. There were lots of other questions but those were the major ones I wanted to discuss.

Feeling a bit relieved for now!!
