Blood amount for home check??

I have quick Question here. When using one of the home testing units can use use a finger prick device and just put a drop of blood on the strip or do you need to fill a vial with a larger amount. Knowing me I would like to check it often so I am comfortable.

For the ProTime monitor - you use the Tenderlett Plus lancing device and on the back side of the Tenderlett there is a collection cup for a Healthy drop of blood which gets snapped in the machine and the blood is drawn into the monitor to read the results.
