Yesterday I started feeling sick, like I have the flu (sore throat, shivers, fever) and I'm leaving for vacation on Tuesday (in Europe). I figured I have to do what I can to nip this in the bud so I went to the doctor this morning. I'm still running a low-grade fever and now my skin hurts. He saw my red, swollen throat and guessed strep. The test came back negative, but he still thinks it's bacterial and he's giving me amoxicillin. I've heard of the concerns on here about strep and endocarditis. Should I really be worried or trust in the amoxicillin to protect me?
I guess I'm just hoping for some reassurance, but this is the first time I've gotten sick since surgery. What else should I watch for to make sure things are getting more serious?
