Kinda a done deal for me, at least: I've got a St. Jude's mechanical.

But I have noticed some post-op cognitive deterioration, even 2 years later. I'm not as sharp as I used to be, and both my short-term memory and ability to concentrate and remain on-task is ridiculously bad, almost as bad as when stoned on pot. Well, as an aging hippie, at least I've had years of experience learning how to deal with that, anyway...

Well, nobody can say if this comes from the HITS.
However, it could be of interest for you to get your HITS rate measured.
That is a quite simple procdure using an echo device to monitor the arteries going into your brain.
