Question for the ladies out there

Hey! I am your neighbor! Live in St. Pete and know Morton Plant well...who is your cardio? My AVR was in 1999, and I don"t remember any issues with the "girls"! Now have large aortic root aneurysm which may be affecting my St Judes aortic valve. Congenital bicuspid valve reason for AVR...

    Artificial valve to homograph

Quick answer as I know you want to chill right now. Apparently it was noticed as a very small enlargement when I had my replacement surgery. Stayed that way until the last couple of years when it ballooned up. Take it easy and look forward to hearing about your successful surgery! Hang in...

    Artificial valve to homograph

Hi! Thanks for responding! Good luck on your upcoming event as well! My aneurysm is at 5.0 so close and apparently came up fast. I am also a small person which does figure in as well. I should have said tissue instead of homograph...was late and I had been reading about them! Been on...

    Artificial valve to homograph

Hi to whoever reads this! Hard to know where it fits. Been a member of Valve Replacement for a long time but had no problems for a loooong time. Had AOV in 1999 with St Judes. Take Coumadin and have cardio visits at least annually with Echo annually. Year ago Echo showed an aneurysm at ca...

    Mechanical Valve Clicking

I have had a StJudes since 1999. Faint clicking at first but no sound for years. Must be working as I am still here! Never had a problem with the Coumadin/warfarin routine. Just a pain to have to always get tested. Good luck and God bless!

Root Canal Failure and then retreatment worry for aortic valve problems

Hi! I've also been there....just ended up getting tooth removed ASAP by an oral surgeon that my dentist paid for since it was his root canal that failed. Did not stop Coumadin. No bleeding issues. It was a back lower molar and once healed , can't say I miss it. It was a very painful...

Ascending Aortic Dilatation (& Dissection) Associated With Bicuspid Aortic Valve

So Thief,I find your handle interesting.... Anyway, I had AVR with St Jude's in 1999. No problems until Echo in April of this year. After CT for verification, I have an aortic root dilation of 4.9. Have seen surgeon and will have another CT in Oct to help determine such increase not evident...

    The Bum Ticker Rides Again

Hi....yes, the main reason for changing out the valve is due to overall issues with any kind of surgery as you get older and warfarin. Reducing dosage is problematic considering blood clots. I have had 2 oral surgeries and my oral surgeon did not want me to change my Coumadin dosage. No...

    Atenolol & aortic root dilitation

Hi.....I have been a member of this group for a number years. Have a St Jude's mechanical due to a congenital bicuspid valve. Been fine all these years taking only the Coumadin. Then my last echo showed the root expansion. After CT is shown to be about 4.9. Visited surgeon at cardio's...

    Aortic Root Dilatation

Update! So CT showed that the aortic root dilation is 4.9....the Echo had shown it at 6.0. So I have to monitor...both cardio and vascular surgeon. Hopefully it doesn't get to surgery stage. Apparently has been there all along but at a lower reading. Yes, I think stress plays into this. Am...

    Aortic Root Dilatation

Hi everyone! Not posted in quite a while but definitely guilty of occasional lurking! I had AVR in 1999 (congenital BAV) with a St Judes artificial...no issues since. Until now. My last echo last week evidently showed an aortic root dilatation of the ascending aorta . I have a CT this week...
