New here - Aortic Valve Replacement scheduled for Nov 15th

So glad things went well! I would guess that your "gas "issue will likely subside soon. Sometimes a little air goes into your stomach as well as your lungs when you have the tube in. The anesthesia and pain medicine slow down your whole gastrointestinal system so it can take awhile for the...

    Looking for advice

I agree with Gail...don't wait too long. The problem can not get better on its own. The only way to fix this problem is with surgery and it's better to have surgery when it's not an emergency situation. I am on warfarin and it has not changed my life one bit except I don't climb high ladders...

    Having babies?!

Just some food for thought, Guyswell....there are many people with BAV who have no problem with athletics when they are young but as time goes on, problems can start. That's how it was with me...i was extremely active and was able to do anything I wanted but wear and tear over the years helped...

I am new to this site, having AVR week after Thanksgiving

The fatigue I felt postop was not as bad as the fatigue I felt before the surgery. The difference for me was resting actually helped after the surgery. Preop, I would wake up after 8 or 9 hours of deep sleep and wake up more tired than when I went to bed. I am still surprised every morning...

Need new medical alert bracelet, and imput on what needs to go on the emblem!

I chose only "takes warfarin". That is enough for any first responders and the beautiful scar on my chest plus the melodious click of my valve would be enough clues for any physician if I wasn't able to communicate. Personally, I am comfortable with just the warfarin. ;)

I don't remember the breathing tube, either. As far as the IVs go, they will stay put quite well. The nurses know how to manage them very well. If you would need one changed, most bigger hospitals have IV teams with specially trained nurses that are very, very good with people who really hate...
