    Worried About Coumadin

I have a mechanical valve for almost 4 years. Dr. wanted me to have it even at 58. I was OK with that because my father has had one since 1985. I had trouble getting evened out with dosage because the people I was dealing with had NO idea what they were doing. That problem was solved at...

    Japanese Steak House Food.

Dose to your diet not the other way around. My INR does move around and when it gets to the lower level 2.5 I watch the greens a little. When it is up towards the top 3.5 I go after the greens. With this diet and exercise I have been within range for 5 months. The first time since my...

    2 mile walk today

Wow great job. I tried 1/2 mile the day I got home. Pretty big mistake. Needed a big rest on the way and felt bad later. But always wanted to do more. Was put on a short leash for awhile after that. Type A so had to be held back.

    Random (stupid?) question - aspirin

I was on both for about 2 weeks after surgery. The following week I went to ER 3 times to have my nose cauterized for nose bleeds. Stopped aspirin and about 5-10 days later all was well no nose bleeds in the last 3 years. NO aspirin for me. Seems some cardiologists like it some don't. I...

    Thinking about At Home Testing

When I wanted home testing I went to the doctor. They arranged it thru MD INR and my insurance. It goes thru my major medical so after deductible I pay just under $10 a month. I test once a week. When I need more strips just a phone call away. They are charging the insurance a great deal...

    ISSUES with Statins

Have been on these drugs for 20 years. Never any blood sugar problems but seems as I age my memory is getting worse. OUCH!! Changing to just lipitor in a month or so. Sure makes me feel good(not) when they start coming out with this stuff.

    Heart pounding?

I kind of look at it like the people that live next to the train tracks. Everyone asks them if the train bothers them and they say no never hear them. I think you get used to the sound and pretty soon it is gone. Still there but not noticed.

    Bit of a scare today.

Hang in there. Hope all is OK now. And by the way NO lifting. I was told not to lift more than a plate full of food.

    Heart pounding?

Not sure if mine is the same as yours but was bad at first. I think still the same but brain blocks it most of the time. When I first lay down it is loud but I am kind of used to it. I notice the skip beats when I first lay down. Some times I count them like sheep. Boom asleep.

    Leg incision numbeness

    Hello all.

Sorry to hear about your experience in ICU. My wife was at Mayo and treated great. I would talk to someone. I was at a hospital on Montana and was treated great all around. Had my nurse to myself in ICU until towards the end when emergency pulled her away but only a few feet. I could...
