    Tee

Thanks everyone. I meant to say that I've had many echos, not caths (thank goodness). I appreciate the help!

    Tee

Just wondering what a TEE can show a Doctor or Surgeon that a regular echo cannot. I have had many caths but never a TEE and have recently been scheduled for one. Just wondering what additional information they are looking to obtain from this additional test. Thank you.

    Introduction & Handy Hints Needed!

Hi Tori, I'm in a similar situation and my doctor is looking at a few options for me with regards to pregnancy. Check with your doctor to see if you might be a candidate for a Ross Procedure - if you are and can find an excellent surgeon to do it (from what I understand there are probably only a...

    aortic stenosis and pregnancy

Thanks. Sorry, I should have given a little more info. My cardio has advised that she would be okay with me going ahead with a pregnancy - but I'd be high risk. So I am debating what is better - a high risk pregnancy, or a valve replacement (most likely a Ross). I figure if I am going to have a...

    aortic stenosis and pregnancy

Hi, Just wondering if anyone on the site has any information/experience with aortic stenosis and pregnancy. Any moms with AS who have been through a pregnancy? Would love any info or thoughts. A little background on me: I have a bicuspid valve with severe AS, asymptomatic and still have very...

    Bikram Yoga

Hello, Just wondered if anyone else on this site pratices Bikram Yoga (yoga in aheated room). Do you think this is okay for a person with valve issues to do? I really enjoy it and don't seem to feel any ill effect, but I wondered if anyone else had any experience with or knowledge of hot yoga...

    mitral valve thickening?

Hello, I received the written report from my cardio yesterday following my bi-annual visit in July. I noticed that she had mentioned "slight mitral valve leaflet thickening" which is something I don't recall reading before, and something we have definitely never talked about. Is this related to...

    Premedicating/Dental Work

I saw my cardiologist last week. He advised me of the guideline change but said basically that it was up to me. He said that if I wanted to be super cautious (which I personally do), then to continue to pre-med, as that can't hurt you.

What is the variation in echo estimates?

Hi, I am not 100% sure this is what you are talking about, but my cath actually showed my valve area to be quite a bit larger than the echo did. The echo was like .67 and the cath showed it to be nearly 1. Hope that is helpful. Ashley

    Opinions on Surgery

Thanks Al. I am not sure how the American system works, but I am not sure if I get the option of talking to a surgeon in Canada. Maybe a Canadian can weigh in? I think what happens is that they bring my "case" in front of a panel of doctors, surgeons (I hope) etc., and they all decide on a...

    Opinions on Surgery

Thanks so much everyone. I really appreciate all the great feedback. I am not sure what they are waiting for. I don't have any symptoms, and that seems to be the determining factor. I think because my cath showed such a different valve area to my echo they think the echo results are "false". Can...
