John here. I have been in to see Carole twice. The nurse says she is doing well. She knows everyone and seems coherent and was already taking inventory of family members to make sure everyone was there and was trying to spell things in the air with her finger to communicate. She really wants that breathing tube out and wants a drink, but the nurse says she can't have either yet. I can tell it is starting to make her a little panicky and that bothers me. I get to go back in and see here in 2 hours and I hope they have it out.

Sounds pretty good so far. Sorry she still has the tube in, I hope she can get off it soon. Can you give her a pen and paper to write with, that what we do with Justin when he is on the vent and we can't figure out his charades
Just so you know, When she gets off the vent, she probably still won't be able to have a drink right away, they will probably start with ice chips and/or these little sponge swabs you can dip in water

Thanks for the update. Sorry to hear the breathing tube is still in. I hope it comes out soon. Post-surgery, you can't drink much. Ice chips will become her best friend. In fact, after I went home I really missed them. Best wishes continue...

I do not even remember the breathing tube being in even though my wife said I was awake, hopefully she will not even remember it either.
But you need to breath on your own before they take it out, and it is more difficult then you think to use those lungs after they take it out.
God Bless,

Oh poor thing. She and I talked back and forth by PMs several times and we both dreaded that thing. I had to to have mine put back but it didn't stay in or long. Ice chips are like getting a t-bone steak. My CV unit was all begging for them. I was also spelling things in the air and hubby made me a communication notebook. She might have a sore throat for a few days. Mine is very raspy and my granddaghter keeps looking at me like, "You aren't my grandma." Tell her Trina sends her love. It will be nice for her when she gets home. I just got home a couple of hrs ago and took my first post-

well deserved rest.

Thanks for the post...I am glad surgery was successful and sure the tube is out by now. She will be given ice chips and with all the medication she will sleep and tomorrow will be a new day and she will be much better. You too try to get some rest.:)

Hi John,
thanks for the update on Carole, i know we talked about the breathing tube and that was here one dread, waking up with the tube in, but as you read this message hopefully its out now and hopefully she wont even remember its been in. She will have a lovely sexy husky voice lol.
You give carole all my love and best wishes, and tell her i miss our chats.
Try and get some rest yourself.
Love to you all Jane

I hope the chest tube is out and Carole is more comfortable by now. Good sign that she was trying to communicate regardless tho... I was useless with my chest tube in, no way i could do anything but choke!
Best wishes for continued good news.
