It was shocking to see my date on the calendar this morning. I've got a million things to do today and yet I'm wondering if I'll be busy enough to keep my mind off what's happening tomorrow morning. I'm sure I'm not the first person to feel this anxious the day before and while I've been awake since 4:00 AM, I keep imagining I'll oversleep tomorrow! Thanks for listening.

Jane

I will be thinking of you tomorrow. Good luck and let us know how your doing when you can

Jane, good luck on tomorrow. Believe me you won't oversleep. You'll be glad to just get it over. Prayers are coming your way.

Jane-
You will be amazed at yourself as to how calm and ready you will be for this tomorrow morning. I know my husband and I were surprised that I didn't burst into tears the minute I walked into the hosptial. Good luck and I will be thinking of you all day tomorrow.

Just to do a quick introduction, my name is Marc and I'm Jane's son. My father and I were with her this morning as she was admitted around 6:00 AM. All of the medical staff was extremely comforting and took the time to explain everything fully.

Once the nurse had set her up on the monitoring equipment, a couple of other doctors spoke with her, confirming her name, allergies, surgery she was planning to have today, etc. The anesthesiologist was most helpful, explaining all of the processes and procedures of the surgery (to her as well as my father and I in the process) in a way that could be easily understood, even by someone no so prepared as my mom.

We were with her right until the beginnings of the general anesthesia were administered and she was still conscious, but no longer coherent. She was wheeled off to the O.R. just a bit before 8:00 AM.

We expect to hear from the surgeon around noon, and I'll be posting an update this afternoon in the Post Surgery section.

We have heard from the Surgeon and she is out of the O.R. Everything went well and we've been given the ok to see her at 2:00 PM, but are told not to expect her to be very "with-it" for a while as the anesthesia wears off. More of an update to come later.

Jane, just saw this post. I hope everything went well for you. I know it did. Best of luck for a smooth, quick recovery.
